ok, after looking around for awhile i have come to like this setup.

2- http://www.ascendantaudio.com/Atlas%2015.htm

and - http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=300-806

but I don't know if I should go ported or leave it sealed, i believe i read some were to that you can use these subs in home use. Also in home audio is it better to have a high qts or a low qts, what are the pros cons.

explain this a little please http://www.ascendantaudio.com/Atlas%20standard%20wiring.htm .

I am guessing the best way to tell if a sub can be used in a down firing application is to call but is their any way to look ate the specs and tell if it is ok.

they are amazing subs for home audio. tune it to like 15hz with a nice huge box and it will pound like a mofo.

www.soundillusions.net has their official forum. talk to chad kyupers. he is the owner and a great guy.

hmmm... after looking at prices cheaper for 2 250watt plate amps than 1 500watt.

are these decent amps. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=300-794

only ****** if you use them in a home theatre... and still not as good as an actual speaker... just a glorified vibrator. but maybe thats your thing ;)

i've watched movies in an install with those...if done right, they kick *** (pun intended)...if done with too much EQ'ing and emphasis, they get distracting after a while.

Well, I'd look into a Rythmik Audio Plate amplifier...it's better than the PS one...even mentions it. I own one, it's a tad cheaper...and it AMAZING.
Here's a description to an ebay auction:

I ordered from him direct after I lost the auction, email him Brian Ding <[email protected]>
Great guy to deal with as well!

ive installed them in several home theatres... they do good as an LFE, for very low frequencies, but i still just prefer an actual woofer to the shakers. but one good thing about the shakers compared to a speaker... you can get a dirt cheap amp with the highest thd rating possible and use it without a bit of difference. so you can get the power for them dirt freakin cheap.

also, if you attatch them to a piece of light furniture, like a couch, youre in for a fun ride :D

would u be able to use the subs for music playing if they are tuned that low? or would u need a seperate system for it?

haha, i was thinking have 4 subs under my TV, the two at the ends for movies and the two at the middle would be for music..not sure what i would use to transmit the audio...prolly a high end home audio system...anyway, i want the subs facing forwards so you can see those bad boys move ahah

You don't need seperate drivers for music or HT...

Tune the enclosure to around 20Hz, it'll work fine for both :)

or go T-line :D

Yeah, my puny 4" Logitech Z-680 center channel pc-type speaker sat on top of my TV and it made it turn funny colors. It must have horrible shielding, because my dad's been putting center channel home theatre (higher quality) speakers on top of his TVs all the time. Cheap logitechs. But hey, 5.1 surround sound with all the speakers, sub, receiver, and amp for $250 shipped and it sounds amazing. Doesn't get as low as a 15 (it has an 8" i think), but all frequencies that the 8 can play and up sound great.

A sub magnet anywhere near a TV scares me. I remember one member here saying his RE XXX made his TV change colors when he carried by the tv about 3 feet away.

just put a nice thick lead plate inbetween the subs and the TV...problem solved ;)

silly... lead plates are for eating off of. mmmmmmm, lead.

p.s.-- electricity through a coil makes the lines of flux expand way beyond what a that would cover ;)
