It's between the DLS MS6
The CDT EF-61CFi/25

Either can be had for about $225...the CDT's may be a bit cheaper.($15ish)

I listen to rock and metal but want something laid back....and I cant decide between the two despite reading great reviews on both.

Please dont throw something else into the mix, I have it narrowed down to these two!

*Will be powered with a briged Diamond Audio D3400.4 (200x2 RMS)

CDT = forum boner from a year ago. DLS = current forum boner. I went with some DLS R6A's, and if i'm lucky, one day they will actually get here. A good place to find some more reviews on DLS speakers is www.talkaudio.co.uk A few people over there say they were recommended the R6A's over the MS6's by dealers. Check them out too.

Whats the main differences between the R6A's and the MS6's?

The R6A's are about $25 dollars cheaper. From what i have heard and been told (not experienced) The R6A's have more midbass, and the overall SQ between the two is close. The tweeter on the MS6's is from a higher line than the tweeter from the R6A's. From what i gather, most people prefer the tweeter from the MS6 set, but the difference isn't that big. R6A's are 80 watts RMS...I'm hopefully going to send them around 100 watts. MS6's are 100 watts RMS I believe. It was popular in European SQ competitions to use the R6 mid in the higher line three way sets instead of the higher line mids until the iridium mids came out. I don't think you will go wrong with either set. I chose the R6A's for the extra midbass, and the cheaper price. Anyway, that's about all the info I have gathered in the two months that i've been waiting for them to get here.

edit...forgot to add...R6A has a 3" mounting depth. The MS6 has a slightly smaller depth.

Thanks for the useful info. I checked out that site and found a few posts useful as well.
I'm now considering stepping up to the CDT HD-62 set, for about $75 more. I have 200x2 on tap and although headroom is good, I think that may end up being too much for the DLS's....still undecided.......

Yeah, that is probably too much for the MS6's...You could check out something from the UP or UR series from DLS...i think those might be in the 150 RMS range. Or you could just go really easy on the gains, plus the DLS should be able to take more than its RMS. I think there are a lot of people here that get caught up in CDT. I have only used cl-6x from cdt, and I know that is their lowest line, but quite frankly, the cl-6x ******, and after those I have pretty much counted CDT out (very biased, I know). You might want to check out some rainbow speakers too.
