I am looking to get some materials to make my own box. Is primed mdf board what I want? I know i need mdf, but what about primed?

mdf is mdf.. ive never heard of primed but id imagine its the same thing.

prime it if you want...if you want to paint/sand it. Otherwise, you'll never see your work under the carpeting :)

I've bought some mdf from home depot that is 'primed' I guess you would say. I dont know if it's the same thing..but it's almost like the mdf has resin/lacquer of some sort on it. Anyone else ever found that kind? I've only seen it once..

Thats the only kind of MDF I have seen. Its just smooth on the faces.

I had some form Home Depot as well, it has a clear finish on it and that is about it, my guess is that it makes it waterproof. It might be a good board to use on slot ports to help ease airflow or maybe it ***** and I am making all of this up.

Theres some at a local store here that has a birch veneer on it, but its not primer... its also about $40 a sheet, so Im staying away from it.
