just hook em up to my old amp (150x2) and just blast 'em. see how loud they get before blowing. WOOT 10 WATTS MAX!!!!!! maybe put a 10 hz tone through 'em and see if they move with their amazing 1mm of xmax.

dude

1. i'm not just blowing them up
2. i am "experimenting"
3. it'd be more expensive to send them to you than u just buying them yourself
4. theyre 50 cents....................
5. read 4 10 times
6. read 5 100 times

so just send me the money to get them and then it will save on the cost of shipping and i will have them shipped directly to me.

no, probably just some sort of enclosure that is really common in high-end audiophile setups.

just maybe.

Line array with these speakers :

Making a small 1/4" or so hole in the dustcap will allow more and cleaner excursion with less air noise.

Internet speak and text messaging will be the downfall of the English language. That and the fact that most people are ****ing morons. I suppose it's a feedback loop.

those speakers are for mid-bass and highs right? or could ya use them for the sub-bass.....i might have a nice side project to make...

EDIT:: Also how many of these 3 1/2" woofers would equal 2 12"s http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=269-680

yes, but how would you wire it all? They are 8 ohm and I can't even fathom how to get that wired.

PV Audio
03-07-2005, 03:11 PM
do 'em in a huge parallel setup then wire the parallel setup as 2 speakers into a series.

plyhammer

How many amps would a person need? I know that would have a huge amount of resistance going though it? Any wiring experts here?

monte_carlo97

how how many speakers are you talking about getting first.

Also how will you be wiring it. In what parallel/series config are you going to be using it.

monte, not to jack the origional thread but... I am the one doing teaching the class with middle schoolers using the re's. If I can get a bunch (like 120, one for each of my students) thought it would be cool to box up. Anyway, at 8 ohm each how would it all get wired if possible and how in the world to amp this? The students want to then take all of this and make up a "competition vehicle" I would have a very small group of kids to work on this during the summer and actually try to compete with this. I am pretty good at grant writing and with this being a class project who knows. The problems that will arise would be huge but may be worth it in the end to get some of these kids interested in the electronics field. I know we would not win with the best spl but they would win by being given the opportunity.

It would be easier to wire up than you think. It would require a large combination of series and parrellel circuits. Actually rather quite simple once you understand how the resistance works with each circuit.

How about this. You get this all planed out and i will loan you some amps powerful enough to move those speakers. I think it would be cool to see a wall with like 100 4" speakers so i would be willing to give you a hand with it all.

Let me know what you need.

PV Audio

just take 'em in sets of 4 or 8 and then wire each set as a single speaker, and continue until u have one speaker setup.
