I personally find there to be no real best brand but there quite a few great sounding speakers i.e. MB Quart, Diamond Audio, DLS, Focal, CDT, and Genesis if you can ever find them. All the above are top brands but im sure i forgot some.

Depends on how much you are lookin' to spend. Just stay away from very low end stuff (Pyramid, Power Acoustic, Pyle, etc etc)

I am in the same situation. I am trying to find a suitable replacement for my Infinity Kappas, which are blown. I really love how the Kappas tweeters sound, but I've always thought they really lacked mid-bass.

I am trying to spend about $150 on Components, but everything I have found that people recommend are too deep (Max is 2.7 inches). I might just get coaxials again, maybe the Pioneer REV series or Boston Acoustics coaxials.

are 6" speakers better than 6x9s?

from what they say round here, 6" have dont distort as much as 6x9's but 6x9's will get louder. I think it has something to do with the symetry of the cone

Should have got in on the RE RE comps from the group buy, just wait a month or so and there will be peeps selling them.

Check out the OZ Audio Vector series. You should be able to get them from Tplaya07 for around $115 shipped, and they have a mounting depth of only 2.5". One of the best in the price range aswell.

How do the OZ Vetors\Matrix sound? I guess I like metal tweeters, since that's what Kappas have. I find them perfect, so anything that sounds like them is a ++++, and of course, I would like lots of midbass.

Another thing is that those are only 50w RMS...I was hoping to run my amp bridged for 100w per channel. I notice the Matrix can handle 100w...do you know how much those run? Ebay turned up nothing.

Don't bridge it, then you would lose your "Stereo" capabilities.... It would be mono.

Why would it be mono? It's a 5 channel amp.

You said you were going to bridge it.... Putting two positive and two negative speaker wire leads together on an amp is called bridging

No, I don't think that's what it's called, that's something else entirely. Bridging is splitting a speaker between 2 channels, effectively doubling the wattage. With a 4 channel amp, you use 2 channels to run 1 speaker. You end up only being able to run 2 instead of 4, but the wattage is usually doubled. It doesn't end up being mono.

on a 5ch they'll still run in stereo....

I upgraded my infinity kappas to dls ms6's, which i feel like was a pretty significant upgrade, esp midbass-wise. I'd sat be prepared to deaden your car more, i have more rattles and buzzes than before, and as soon as i put the door panel back on, i hear a new thing buzzing.

How were the highs compared to the Kappas?

i personally had to turn down the treble level bc i thought the kappa tweeters hurt my ears, they seemed a bit piercing to me. the ms6's i think sound just as clear and dont hurt as much. The tweeters are placed on the a-pillars, and are closer to my ears than the woofers which may be the reason for the issue, but i like my ms6's a lot more than the kappas, except now i have to dampen the speaker brackets since the added bass is causing them to buzz, but im starting to hate car audio, it seems like such a pain in the *** to deal with.

the kappas are known to be ear peircing in their tweets. I was going to get them since the max mounting depth on my front doors were 2.75" and they fit at a decent price.

Take your pick. Other guys, help him out and let him know which ones yall like of these. I would go with the alphasoniks or boston acoustics. Both will sound good and both at amazing prices.
