I know squat about the 8455 other than it is new and I have been given the impression that the 8053 is better than the 8454 but the 8454 is ready to go with MP3 reading ability. Then there is the 8455 and that is supposed to be satalite radio ready. Do I still need to buy a seperate satalite tuner? How about SQ is the 8455 as good or better than the other two? Does it include the parametric EQ?

that is something taht you will most likely have to wait until they come out to find out what you like. as far as the 03-04 models, they are basically the same deck, i dont know if the 03 has the media stick feature. just choose what features you like more and go with it.

Most likely the new has the same internals as the old, but IMO not as good of looks. I like my 8053 and the 8454 looks, but the 8455 looks JVC or something near that to me.

The 8053 is a pre-amp only HU. It has no internal amplifier, I loved mine...still have the Balanced Output adapter laying around for it! peace

What does that do for the system? And why don't you have it anymore?

I sold it for quite a bit of money...what i deemed was worth it! I know have the an alpine 9835. The balanced line adapter converts the 8v pre-outs to 16v balanced pre-outs. If any1 is interested, I still have it MINT condition in box! $50+ actual shipping (and paypal fees if applicable!). Retails for $100+local tax!

i would personally look for a used 8454/8053/ or 8443. i've read on other forums that people have tested the 8443 rca outputs and found no clipping even at full volume and they were producing a true 8 volts rms. i only paid $200 shipped for my 8443 and it's the best deck i have had so far.
