where is the best place for a 9835?

will the prices drop dramatically with the newer units coming out?

my girlfriend paid close to $500 for mine -- if your gonna shell out 400+ at least get it from an authorized dealer so there are no warranty issues.

yeah that's true.... i dont wanna drop that much on it... :crap: i mean for a screen upgrade over the 9833 i dont think its worth 200$~!

i think anything over 400 i might as well save up for a indash dvd. Maybe that is just me.

well i gess u kinda have a point, because I know ive seen some clarion indash dvds for like 600 and they were at crutchfield! Everyone knows that crutchfield has the most expensive prices around. But again the 9835 is a great deck you wont be dissapointed, and if brought up the DVD issue because u plan on getting a screen later, u can always get something like the DVA-5210 which plays dvds and just add a screen later. Up to you tho.

If you've seen it in action, it'd be worth it then.

getting a low end dvd unit is still gettinga low end unit. i dont care much about dvd but if i wanted it, i would get a ps2 and a screen. if i was going to get an indash it would cost over $1700.

^that is true tho. You kinda go one step down when u get a dvd unit because it is less focussed on the sound quality, performance etc of the unit and now is kinda split up to the screen. I agree that I would probably spend more than 1,500 on a dvd unit. I gess you should just get a regular deck for the performance.

Yes paying more automatically means it has better quality.

i dont see anything on the new 9855 that is worse that the 9835 beside the internal amp that i will never use once. the 9855 has you choice of 5 band parametric or 7 band graphic. if thats the only difference that i would say that the 9855 is better. go onto alpine and compare the numbers. im too lazy. if i had a choice i would have purchased the 9855 but i didnt want to wait for 2 or 3 months for a new radio cause i really wanted satellite radio.

^ i actually prefer the 9855 screen as well. The 9835 still has that scroll text which is highly annoying and you cant even see all the information at once with out having to push the title button a sht load of time. The 9855 can display all that information in columns with no scrolling.
