Here are the speakers compared to my cdt hd-62cfs.

Quite the difference.

Here are the brackets I had to make to hold the mounting depth of 3 5/8th inches.

I put some weather stripping around the speaker in order to keep the grills on the factory door panel from rubbing the speaker. Here are the old and new speakers mounted in the doors.

They sound awesome. My remote gain for my sub is all the way down and the bass response is great. This upgrade was definatley worth the hassle.

The aura tweets from desertheat are great. They sound great and have no sort of harshness.

u can actually fit the door panel over a spacer that big?

02-18-2005, 08:37 PM
so....what kind of speaker is that?

thats a big *** spacer parker :) nice job btw, looks like your fabrication skills are improving.

Thanks Matul (spelling???) THe circle's were sort of ugly but they work great. In the pictures you can see the weather stripping on the mounting portion of the basket. That stripping is to keep the stock grill from bumbing the speaker becuase it is incredibly tight. On the door panels one of the clips won't grap but it is in the corner and the solution worked great.

I'm a master fabricator. lol

i figured they hit the door panel :) so...what kind of speakers are they? and what did you do with the CDT's?

02-18-2005, 08:56 PM
I am keeping the cdt's to put in my wife's car.

They are dayton reference series 7" woofers. Look at the link to see the difference!!! Its huge. I amusing the phenominal crossovers on the diamond amps and running them between 50-3k hz, and I am using aura tweeters( Very clean and smooth) 3k up. The speakers are 8 ohm but I am getting plenty of power to them.

wife? when did you get married? shouldnt your spending go down now ;) just playing.

i see the difference, that 7" is a pretty massive, bet they play low, did you try crossing them over a little lower than 50hz? i used to all pass my HEX's and they handled low frequencies well, but those are going (i think brian might buy them for his civic) and hopefully this week, my new components are in :)

planning on coming by the shop anytime soon? would love to hear the new setup.

02-18-2005, 09:26 PM
Yea I'll come by the shop

I'm probibly running them down to like 30-40hz.

02-19-2005, 01:09 AM
can i see a pic of it with the door panel on? cuz i'm pretty sure my mid is gonna touch the door too and i'm trying to get an idea how bad its gonna be.

02-19-2005, 01:58 AM
The space is very subtle and would be very very difficult to take a picture of.

02-19-2005, 02:24 AM
does it rattle the doorpanel? is the unhooked clip area noticeable?

02-19-2005, 10:08 AM
I once tried installing some 6.5" drivers with thick spacers. I couldn't clip the bottom, but didn't think much of it. Road howl increases like a mofo cause of all the sound emitted through the seams.

My doorpanel speaker area is now cut. (ready to be resined)

02-19-2005, 12:53 PM
I had no adverse affects.
