Hey guys, first post.

I've been reading a lot about HU's on here a lot and it seems that the Alpines are a favorite. I have been looking at the CDA-9835 and really like it, howerver it is very expensive. The CDA-9833 seems like it has the same features. Is the only difference between these two HU's the display?

The 9835 is my first pick, but if you had to choose between an Alpine CDA-9833 and a Pioneer DEH-P860MP which would you go with?

Thanks guys

i have a pioneer 9300. very similar to 860 but with out the color. the graphics really turned me on but i got sick of the pics and videos and now i want an alpine. graphics are fun for a while but i think i will like the alpine a lot more. those are two great HU's though.

So is the only difference between the 9835 and the 9833 the display? I really like the display but its a lot more expensive if that is the only difference.

The only differences between the Alpine CDA-9833 and CDA-9835 is:

CDA-9835:
Real Fancy Pants Display
Different Crossovers
has the i-Personalize feature (allows you to customize your settings more or something like that)

everything else is the same down to the remote... let me see if i can find more info on what the i-Personalize thing is

the i-Personalize thing seems to be some kind of online system where you can save customization features to a CD from the internet and upload it to your head unit ... maybe its stuff like new backgrounds and what not ... possibly software updates if the HU requires.. thats just my guess... im trying to decrypt the alpine site

Thanks for the links. That's where I was initially looking and didn't see a difference except for some of the wording. According to the brochure I have from Alpine, the 9835, 9833, and 9831 all have i-personalize. I think I'm gonna just go with the 9833 since I can't justify speding and extra $120 just for the display. Thanks for your help guys.
