a slight dilemna...

I listened to the Alpine SPX-177R 6.5" component speakers on Friday. probably the best component speakers i've heard yet...$399 for the pair.

they're on ikesound.com for $199.

my dilemna...i have an Explorer Sport Trac(5x7" stock). i'm not sure if the 6.5s will fit. if they don't i can't return them if i buy them from ikesound. if i buy them from the place i heard them they will take them back if they don't fit. should i just order the 5.25s to be safe? or does any one know if the 6.5s will fit?

the 5.25s are only $20 cheaper than the 6.5s so i'd rather go w the 6.5s.

If you heard them at a local retailer, you should be able to talk them down in price some. I'd walk in there and offer them $300+tax; that's only ~$100 more than off the 'net, and if they don't work you'll have the peace of mind that you can return them. If they do work, you have the peace of mind that you have a full factory warranty, as well as any hands on advice and service that may be needed.

But unless the mounting depth doesn't allow for it, they should fit with a little work
