View Full Version : 9-Conductor Speaker Cable
Could I run two pairs of RCA's, and 4 speker wires and a on wire for the amps... How many wires does a RCA need? On;y a left and a right? Or a left and a right and a ground or something...

Speakers and RCA cables are completely different impedances...don't try to combine them on a single cable.
I am trying to get 3 sets of RCA's in one slieve. IS this possible?
Just do it correctly and get a 4-channel cable, and leave one set unused :)
Much easier, and you're less likely to get interference or "crosstalk" issues.
So is it possible to get 3 RCA set's in one slieve? WHo makes it and where can I get it if they do.
i would be interested in this too. please post a linkie :)
The biggest problem with that, as far as I see it, is that it's not shielded. You want a good braided shield over the conductors, to reduce any EMI/RFI issues.
sooo this isn't possible?
here is a two channel.. http://www.monstercable.com/caraudio2/productPageCar.asp?pin=173 kind of expensive though... but I need a 3 channel.... bass, back, front....

No you wanna run a seperate wire for the sub. yes they do make 3 channel RCA's for home audio use but they arn't sheilded and it'll realy screw up your signal. Just go buy an extra set of RCA's

I have a feeling you're making this way more difficult than it needs to be. How many amps do you have? Do you have three seperate amps for the front stage, rear fill, and subs? If so, get three seperate runs of two-channel RCA interconnects, and stop looking at Monster Cable if you're worried about price. They're overpriced. Try http://www.knukonceptz.com or Sounddomain for more reasonably priced stuff.
I'm throughly confused...clarification on your install would be nice :)

5150 is a peavy guitar amplifier
I have 2 amps... But I want to do a clean job on the install and I am looking for one cable that has three sets of RCA's. Three sets of RCA's in one big cable/slieve...
Then just get three runs of RCA's and Techflex/heat shrink them together :)
thats not the objective.
a THREE CHANNEL rca interconnect. i would love to have one tbh. would make wiring a LOT simpler.

i believe what he really means is a 6 channel, left & right for fronts, rears, subs
it IS possible with that wire....but it wont be very high quality. I would get a set of 4 channels & a 2 channel & call it a day.
Shawn
They do make three channel interconnects...they're made for home theatre wiring, two channels of audio and one of video :)

lol,i have like 4 of those. There cheap and un shelided
how about one of these, its got an extra channel, but it looks to be un-shielded.

does that seriously matter =\
ive heard all kinds of bullshit about audible distortion in rca cords, i can wrap my rca's arund my power wire and i dont hear distortion...
do you need them to be unshielded?

they can be shielded but they don't need to be. Either way it doesn't matter.
I found a 6 channel in my local shop.... 109.99$ though.... I got them... They are the good monster ones...

i pity your soul. monster cable is NO BETTER THAN THE OLD BLACK RADIOSHAK CABLE, aside from looks.
but my question still stands, does the RCA wire *nEEd* to be shielded?
You can be your own judge of that.. They were the only 6 channel RCA's I could get my hands on..

I dont think so
Ive got cheap scosche ones runn ing right next to my power wire, no GL from the speakers
thats what i thought supa. i found some cool 8 channel (basically 8 seperate single RCA wires) for like $25~30 - but they arent ultra shileded duraflex mono cloride filtering oxyfree core alumaflux deadening fecies repeling montser cable, if you know what i mean =P
so i got 2 rca's for my fronts, 2 for the rears, 2 for the sub, and an extra set if i need them :)
