home or car? car would be a toss up between some horn cars and some oz cars. mark eldridge uses some old school altec lansing compression horns with a custom horn body that are incredible. kirk perry (my old installer before i started installing first perfect 40 car) ran some highend protech speakers then later ran a 2 way oz 6.5 inch component set that could do 20-20k all by them selves. earl wills 97 world champion car was sweet cd-2 horns and if i remember right an idq 6 mid bass.same type of car you have in your siggy. had 2 idw 15's or 18's as well was freakin awesome sounding

Pyramid Gold series 4" midrange driver.

This is the *only* midrange driver I have ever listened to. While it has no midbass whatsoever, it is not a midbass driver. I was impressed, especially for a $15 set of midranges. I dunno, for $15-$20 it might be worth trying. They phase out at around 175-200hz
They are, naturally, killed by the Aura Array 2" mids I have here in my room, but that's a different story.

You see, dang it man. I have asked like 5 or 6 people about those auras about how they would perform and got nada. Those are the ones I was considering first. Then I read someone say that they should not be used as main speaks only centers. I was even thinking maybe even the 3" aura mid.

As for horns those are gonna have to wait for at least a couple of months as I don't want to deal with all the problems that they present and I won't be able to get the Audiocontrol DQS that I want for at least a couple of months too (prolly more like 3 or 4).

DesertHeat can help you out with the 3 inch Aura mids. The two inch mids are incredible, but the poor power handling (8 ohm drivers, 10-15 watts RMS) make installation difficult. Now, the 3 inch ones should have a higher power handling, and they're rumored to play down to 80hz.

2 inch mid, 20hz tone, roughly it's rated power. Clipping. I can get around 3/4 of that excursion not clipping with actual music.

$38 for a set of 2" mids, little over $40 for the 3 inch mids (IIRC). Talk to DesertHeat.

The 3" are wicked, actually setup like a normal speaker, unlike the 2" which are setup like a dome midrange except inverted. Either a really cool and sound great.

Fostex 4" horn-loaded crossover-less cabinets...

but they were running off a dual 300B SET amp, so I guess that made a difference too, lol ;)

best two and a half watts I've ever heard.

For the car? I'd love to get my hands on a pair of Extremis 6's :D

home audio as far as "regular" speakers go system audios are nice some of the most detailed speakers i ever listened to ( as far as detail they blow away my b&w as my wharfedales do too) fav speakers though are the big arsed klipsches with the powered 15's in them. they can cover about anything you want and they dont cost 20k lol
