I just spoke with a tech at Alpine and was told that the new head units are pretty snazzy. My question is.. does ANYONE have pictures of the CDA-9855 and CDA-9853 as those are the two models I'm considering. Worth noting is that the 9855 will have a Color Biolite display (one of the weaknesses I noticed in the 9835) and both models will have that Glidetouch strip instead of buttons, easing interaction with the ipod, etc.

So, does anyone have any pictures of these bad boys?

More capable as in...? What are ya looking for out of alines processors or what would you like to see..? I myself would have liked an additional 2-4 parametric eq bands...

I've been looking for CES coverage myself......however most pics are just starting to pop up on the web. The people that go there are known to party late anyways, they've got better things to do than post pictures..LOL

I'd wait till around next week and you will be seeing a lot more thorough coverage.

The only thing that I have seen is a post on a UK site:

http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/vbb/showthread.php?t=101383

They don't identify the model numbers but I'm assuming that it is the high end styling.

I am almost sure that is NOT the high end alpines, for a good reason:That Glidestrip replaces the buttons on the high end units (read: 9855,9853) and that unit deff has buttons, I believe thats either a 984X or a 982X series 05 headunit.

The TalkAudio pic is the same as the CDA 9851 pic on Crutchfield. So it looks like it isn't one of the top end models. Sorry!

Hey fellas, I contacted Alpine and they faxed me the brochure that has the 9853 and 9855 models. The quality (obviously) ***** from the scan, but boy o boy does it look REALLY cool that glidetouch strip (and the 9855 menu looks pretty sweet even though I can't see it in color. :(

Looks nice but I am not a fan of the strip as of yet, same technology as a touch pad mouse and we all know the annoyance and issues with those... Guess time will tell if it works out! And nope, no color biolite, and I am GLAD! That was the point of the bio lite, ease to read black and white!

Thats a VERY clean looking setup, where did you get that pic? :D It's *supposed* to have a color biolite display on the 9855.
