how big should the bandpass of the box be and what kind of ports work the best??

First off what sub is it? Secondly bandpass *****, they sound like ****. Get a vented box.
Oh and chrome ports add about 6db and if you have flames etched on the glass that is another 3db.

i'll keep in mind the crome and the flames, i like the stealth and the skulls better but i got 2 jl w3's but i think i was going to buy two kicker S10d's"solobarics the old ones"

nah im pretty sure hes dead serious, oh and neons add db's too.
It just depends on the color, blue - 2 dbs, red - 1.5 dbs, pink 3 db's

Dont forget chrome sub grilles, they will give you 3 dBs AT LEAST

correction: spinning chrome sub grills are needed for the full 3 db increase.

If built right they can sound good and get loud. Premanf. bandpasses **** and are worthless peices of junk. Considering the world record right now i belive is held by a person that uses a band pass style box...id refrain from calling them ******.

Hah, my ported SPL box sounds like absolute crap, i wouldnt want to imagine how horrible bandpasses specifically for SPL are :)

OMG...
Someone (memory = :() a few years back at a mutil-point was playing music in their install with the doors open... it was absolutly wicked. Mind you, it was after He DQ'd and 'played' it at ~1/8 of the voltage... still. Norris maybe... I dunno.
