H x W x D /1728=cubic feet

tape measure + geometry = knowing the volume

Get A Height Then Get A Width Then Get A Depth. Multiply All Of Them And Divide By 1728. That Will Be How Much Cubic Feet You Have...

figured you could use common sense and realize what i meant by H x W x D but i guess not

example: 12" times 12" times 12" equals 1728. 1728 divided by 1728 equals 1. meaning you have 1 cubic foot to work with.

kno height and width, how do i measure for depth

unless your doing fiberglass, or building it inside the trunk, all you really need to measure is the entrance to the trunk dimensions........its hard to guess on the height, so use cardboard to help you out. i measured my trunk once, and made the box 4 inches too wide. it wouldnt fit no matter what i did, so i sold it
point is, measure the trunk clearance (entrance) first.

umm have you never seen a box before? height goes up, width goes side to side...what does that leave? depth meaning how deep it is. measure out how far your box could actually fit and thats your depth...

about the huh part, sorry i was quick to get angry. not having sucha good day. sorry

so basically measure from the entrance of my trunk to the floor of it,then from side to side

what iamampimp means is measure the area that your entrance to the trunk is as usually anything bigger will not fit in (sometimes you can get bigger as you can put the box in diagonally and all that but dont think too much about that). so basically measure the entrance. how wide is it from side to side and then also how wide going from your hips to about where the trunk hinges are. then get a max height. multiply all the numbers together and then divide by 1728 and you will get your max cubic foot measurement.

sorry to have sounded so dumb,i got it all figured out now, basically just need the /1728=cbf,part of the equation

im going off the top of my head from what i remember. 2 xxx 15's will need approximatly 8 cubes for the subs and then whatever else the port is gonna be so for the whole box it will prolly be around 9-9.5 cubes. for 3 sx 15's you will need 10.5 cubes for the sub and once again, youll need to add the port so prolly about 12 cubes more or less.

edit: i should mention this is for ported enclosures. 4 cubes for each xxx 15 and 3.5 cubes for each sx 15

"how wide is it from side to side and then also how wide going from your hips to about where the trunk hinges are."

my question is do i add these two measurements together

Holy crap dude, this isnt rocket science. Picture a box in our head, then picture it in your trunk. Measure the area that it will fit in, and voila, box measurements. Unless you want to assemble it inside your trunk, take into mind the size of the trunk opening.
