How much room are you willing to give up for an enclosure?

I'd probably go with around 5-7 cubes per FU18, ported of course.

i don't care how much room i give up as long i can still put my amp and junk back there i doubt i will make it that big since it will be sealed

I wouldn't seal a FU, but that's just me. IIRC, even PA doesn't recommend sealed them.

yeah, if you need sealed, maybe you should consider a different sub? just my two cents

as long as the height of your trunk is 19.5" or more you should be fine. The width and depth can be changed around depending on what you want. I would also recommend ported.

but do you think my trunk would have enough space for a ported box. what other subs should i look into if i can't get a ported box. keep in mind i want an eighteen

How much room do you have in your trunk? What are the max dimensions of the room you're willing to give up?

6.5 cubes ported is good for the PA FU18 or RE SX18.

the max space i can give up is 55 inches across 35 deep and 15''1/2 high

dont seal an FU. you have ~14.5 cuft so port that thing... I should be finished with the box for my FU 18 tomorrow and will post pics.

That's plenty of room. Can go with dual 18's if you want ;)

How would u set that up tho? He said his height is 15.5. Are they gonna be facing up or sumthin? If 15.5 is all u can do then u cant do 18. Think about it, 18 inches. U have 15.5. U would have to do some wedge type box or probably facing up

i got my fu-18 in a 7.5 cube box tuned to 45 hz, 150 sq inch of port.... it actually sounds nice but there are some notes where it makes the sub sound sloppy, like really low notes, rougly around 15-25hz it is just slopp... but then everything else and up sounds preaty good.. all i gotta say is that this sub can get **** loud... but i think if i waxs to build another box i would make it either 6.5-7 cubes still tuned to 45 hz, but with only like 100-120 sq in of port.... i think that i would prob get more output out of that....

The only cheap 18's I can think of now are the RF Punch HX2 and the Kicker Comp VR.

o ok. Hmmm. Well I dont know of any other good and cheap 18 inch subs. Probably the CompVR would be nice sounding unit in a ported enclosure. I cant say how much better than the FU cuz ive never heard one of those

probably because your box is tuned at 45hz...

Yea it would only be "stable" at ~40 hz. Anything below that is crap. :fyi:

did u just miss what i said.......
I would never tune a box that high unless i planned to never listen to it and use it plainly for competitions. If you think that box was loud and clear.......... i'll just leave it at that. some 1 please elaborate :furious:
