i give full credit for its cleanliness to the t-square ruler and the table saw. i dont think people spend enough time with precise cuts.

Yea, I made the mistake of letting my dad do some of the cuts. He is a good carpender and knows what he's doing but not in finishing type work. He tends to make mistakes when presistion is necessary. No worry though, i'll just do all the cutting next time...

yea i was skeptical about doing the carpeting myself again. last time, i took all these tips like folding the edges under, and it looked alright. but this time i simply started from the bottom, glued and wrapped it around, and cut so it ended right where i started (no overlapping). to get rid of the line down the bottom you just kinda buff it with your fingers and it looks like there were no cuts. for the sides i just cut squares that covered the side exactly (no extra over the edges), and glued them. i just buffed it with my fingers and it worked just as well as the first time. carpeting 101 for ya.

theyre 10 inch w3v2s D6s. the sound is everything you'd expect from a sealed to ported transfer. and the box in my sig is my old sealed one. ill put an updated one on when i get my nicer cam back. the ones posted were with my camcorder.

That is really nice. Very clean carpeting, wish I could do that good of a job.

its easy. just read what i wrote above. its really just cutting pieces to fit then gluing. all that tucking in and adding on new sides stuff is unnecessary.

What did you use to glue it. Anything other than that 3M super 77? I may have to give it a try.

What did you prime those babies with?

bcarpenterfhl
12-21-2004, 10:08 PM
everyone at my school has two tens, so i had to beat them. 3 twelves wasnt good enough for me, and i couldnt fit four tens with my third row up. so thats why i have three. although i did get them at a relatively good price. three for 450 shipped.

i'm guessing by those babies you mean the slot parts. i used Aquacrylic Gripper and Painters Touch gloss black. one coat of each.

i just think theyre absolutely retarded when people dedicate so much work to creating a good seal in their box, then create an new vulnerability by using terminal cups. i dont think anyone seals them. and after a few months of heavy bumping in a sealed enclosure, they started to crack. imo the most logical thing is to either run the wires throught the port, which is ugly, or just drill a small hole, run the wires through, and seal it.

Nice job, carpeting came out real good. Never comes out the way I want when I try to carpet. What amp are you pushing those with? My friend has a JL 500/1 on 3 W3's in his explorer and it bumps pretty good.

three tens is the most i could possibly fit ported....thinking about getting a single XXX 12 soon and powering it with some crap hifonics. i'm powering these with top of the line crap and they work amazingly. i'm thinking one system for when i'm in an sq mood and another for when i'm in an spl mood.

can you explain how you made the cut outs for the speakers in the carpeting?
i was thinking to just trace the speakers out with a knife, remove the scrap carpet then bolt um down...this how you did it?

bcarpenterfhl
12-31-2004, 01:54 AM
you carpet after u cut....look at the pics. you carpet it, ignoring the holes, then just razor the carpet out when youre done.

Nicee lookin box, Ill post the Question for you if you want, then you can just reply to it,... Gimmie whatchu need, and Ill post it. Btw, I wanted to ask you a ?, you build boxs... Think I should use one 4 inch port, or 2 2.5 inch ports? Tuned at the same frequency and all...

bcarpenterfhl
01-04-2005, 05:16 PM
i actually have no experience round ports. the only reason imo to do a round port is if you dont have the proper tools to make precise cuts and measurement. my guess is that the two 2.5 ports will decrease the chance of port noise.
