i got to thinking about my trunk space and how to design a box to fit in there. i was wondering if it'd be worthwhile or if it's even a good idea to design a wedge-shaped box to maybe help it to slide into the trunk easier? but the only thing would be that they'd be firing up..how would this sound? is this even a good idea? or would it juzt be better to stick with the traditional rectangular enclosures? fiberglass boxes would be hella expensive since i have no experience with fiberglassing. any opinions on what to do?

a wedge shaped box just barely aims up...it depends on how drastic your making your angle but if its just a little then i don't see a problem

well what would be the max angle to go with? b/c it might have to be kinda drastic. maybe 20 or 30 degrees..maybe a lil less. but i'm wondering how big the box would have to be if i did that.

just stick with the rectangular style and make a ported box since your thinking of making another one. Trust me you will see a huge difference. 2 12s ported should be at least 150 db. I know a dude that has 2 10s and hits 148db with the ported

ok. thanks man. now i juzt gotta get the max dimensions i have to play with. that's the hard part. i might build a really long box and slide in throught the backseats. i juzt thought of that. but thanks!

with what tuning? daily driver tuned high will sound like ***.

also- what mic was he using. i dont wanna burst your bubble, but facts are often misled by what people read. so ive seen 148db from a single 10" woofer before.

it all depends on the size\tuning of your box, the resonace of your car, the frequency you play, and the dampening you apply.

build it right, and you will get the results you want.

well i was being conservative. Plus it was an accurate mic but the amp was pretty godam cheap. Im pretty sure he would hit 160-165 with a good amp. Its only about 700 watts total.
And thats why i said 150 cuz you never know if the box will messed up or if the amp will be cheap. I was looking at the worse case scenario
