View Full Version : Adire Koda questions

I am looking for some new speakers to replace my dragster speakers. So...it was either this or the RE XXX comps (which only have midbasses right now.) I was wondering how the koda's sound. Like are the tweeters overly harsh? soft? Do the midbasses actually make midbass [unlike my current pos's :thumbsdo:]? Thanks for the answers ahead of time. If anyone has comparisons of the midbasses go ahead and speak
*Edit* Also, what would be a good amp to push them? I know I need 100W RMS to push them. Thanks again

ive had them for about three months now. tons of midbass, a little lacking in the midrange, tweet is extremely laid back (not harsh at all, but i wanted a little more out of it sometimes). My brother has the hd's. you might want to look into them also. the kodas get lower ( have mine lowpassed @60hz) and have more midbass than the hd's but the hd's have better midrange and a better tweeter, i think. push em with an avionixx 400.2.(150 x2 )

US acoustics amps are rated at 12.9 volts so your guaranteed to have the wattage they are rated at unless you drop less than 12.9 which hardly ever happens. They are also soft on the price.

Hd's? m1122 can you specify what you mean by HD's. I'm guessing you mean CDT's?

get CDT ES620 for 365 shipped

The Koda's are on sale for 225...maybe not with shipping, but that is the reason behind getting the koda's. I need better speakers, these are on sale (normally 350) so I figured I might dish out the dough for these. My other option is Alpine type-X but no stores around me carry them for me to listen to.
Edit - typo

Could the Koda's handle 350watts on a daily basis
12-16-2004, 06:40 PM
Dont think so. I think they are 300 max. Cuz shivas are about 350
12-16-2004, 06:45 PM
Koda's are good...non-fatiguing, with an EQ you can make them outstanding.
12-16-2004, 06:47 PM
Dont forget about that sale ;)
For $225 shipped thats a hell of a deal
12-16-2004, 06:54 PM

12-16-2004, 07:02 PM

I dont know about the whole Koda package, but I am putting the Koda 6s matched up with a Seas 27TFFC06 Tweeter and with an active x-over. I think It will sound good, If you like to listen to music, and are going to splurge alot of money, put most of it in the mid Ive heard, as that gets the most attention. Ive heard the Koda 6s are the way to go. I will be running them with an Xtant 403A Amp, so 100W rms to each one. Good luck with your search and when you get them post up some reviews.

Well...if the mids get most of the attention...then wouldn't i want the XXX mids for $24 more? Since they're supposed to be really...really...really nice?!
12-18-2004, 12:48 AM
The XXX components are way more than the Koda 6.1's

i guess i better go with the koda's. (i don't have a credit card yet (saving up money and just put in for one)) so i'd have to get my dad to order it for me. gah, being 18 and that isn't fun, guess i'm going with the koda's. thanks guys
*edit* nice pics

Don't get a credit card. Just attach a Visa to your bank account and use that. Trust me on this, you'll regret owning a credit card. It's just too tempting. If I had one, my front staging would have cost more than my entire current setup. Haha.

Money order,Pay pal
And you dont need your dad to pay for it ;)
12-18-2004, 02:00 AM
heh, so are yall saying go for the triple x's? :p: Either way, i'll be set
12-18-2004, 02:18 AM
I dont think anyone said to get the XXX's
12-18-2004, 11:30 AM
The xxx's are much more $ than the kodas. Silly willy :veryexci:
Back on subject, who's actually HEARD these Koda's? I'm interested to see how subtle they are, and what kind of detail they can produce. I'm looking for something that's as non-fatiguing as possible, and these look like a steal.
12-19-2004, 01:55 PM
Well...I ordered the Koda's and when I get my amp (around xmas) I'll install everything and let yall know how great they are :-)
P.S. With 3 day shipping they were 255-260
Edit - The XXX mids were $249 ground, the koda's were $245-246. This is being shipped to Richmond, VA. So just giving pricing estimates for you east coast boys
12-19-2004, 10:19 PM

Are these supposed to be in stock and shipping immediatly, or is this one of those pre-order deals? Their web site doesn't say anything regarding stock levels (planning on calling them today and asking).
12-20-2004, 10:30 AM
They should have them in stock
The last pre order sale was on the Extremis 6's
Uh oh, no longer on the website. Deal over?
12-21-2004, 03:13 PM

I noticed it's still on the website, but not in the store.
