its not that hard to calc the port disp, just lxwxh, then subtract that and your subs displacement to get your volume, and tune it from there. i dont know about the other 4 mistakes, but im no pro like jmac

i dont see how its not that easy, sure there is end correction, and you cant forget about the thickness of the wood, but other than that its just a simple volume calculation

oh, i didnt bother to add up the dimensions i assumed he did that fine

That's what I meant, people always forget the thickness of the wood ;)

If they have a 12" long slot port that is 12" x 3", they go 12" x 3" x 12" / 1728 = 0.25 ft^3 instead of 12" x 3.75" x 11.25" / 1728 = 0.293 ft^3 ...

They screw up even more when the port turns as they rarely get the length right in addition to the displacement ...

Jmac, you may have just earned yourself a box contract.

2.44 ft^3 tuned to 37 Hz assuming it's double-baffled like it appears to be ...

why is the tuning so HIGH??? Is it my port lenght?

make the port less wide... when i was designing mine
i found that the wider the port the length got ridiculously
long...

i know a big fat port looks cool... but they seem to be more
trouble then they are worth...

audiobahn.com has a good port calculator in the tch support part if you are too lazy to do the math, you enter the size of your port, the NET(after displacment) volume of your box, and then the tuning you would like it to be, and it will tell you you port length, make sure to change it to a square slot port in the checkboxes at the top

ooohh hahaha i was calculating the port with the volume before the displacement!! me stupid.....:banghead:

and you know wat its oaky if jmac is killin my dreams!!! i call that learning experience!!!
