Say you had roughly $40 to spend for speakers. Mainly, a set of 6.5s for a brother who's stock ones just don't cut it anymore. Would it make more sense to get a new pair of good quality coaxials, or a used pair of off brand components?

This is an after-action thread. I already bought him these 2-ways (http://www.cardomain.com/item/JVCCSXV620), I just wanted to get a second opinion in case I should kick myself.

For that price range, I'd definitely go after co-axials. I don't know anything about those particular co-axials....but generally co-axials in that price range would be a better option than components.

CDT CL-6Xs are good for the money, maybe slightly more than you'd want to spend. Just PM djdilliodon for prices on 'em.

I would go Infinity or Alpine for cheap stuff.
