Ok, I'm at the University of Cincinnati. Right now i'm in the process of getting approved for official organization status! WOOT WOOT! Anyways, it's going to be the University of Cincinnati Car Audio Team, (UCCAT, lol) and we need to decide 100% what competition organization we will focus on! We will be on a limited budget, (and will use team member contributions) and basically want to try to get the loudest for our money.

What organization do you recommend? Obviously we are in Cincinnati, Ohio...like to get to a good amount of shows next year, traveling 2-3 at most!

One possibility we've considered so far:
DbDrag: Street A: 2 10" MT's or 2 10" solo x's, ma hk4000d or us amps 4000x, stinger sp1700 battery, honda crx (up in the air...big time), TL sensor

I'm not as familiar with other organizations, and I just began looking into MECA today...i'm really confused!

So, i'm looking for advice from fellow competitors! Help us out! Thanks a lot!

What sanctioning body holds the most events in your area? Lots of "double" and "tripple" point events (if the body offers them)? Seems like a pretty good Street A setup if you fit into that class.

I second what Steve said, whatever one holds the most events your team is able to attend.

My advise to you is buy a sensor before anything else. And forget the 4000x.

Well, running that setup in MECA would put you in a REALLY high street class(S5 to be specific). To give you a good example of what you would be going against here's some number from this years s5 group.

Id you decide to run in USACi or MECA do some research before you buy your amps.

x2 on that one.

And I do agree with you on getting the sensor ... probably one of the best purchases you could make. If you have the time, it's possible to make some money back if you wish.

Don't use either of those amps...If you do Street A, use an SPL Dynamics EXT-3000D, American Bass 200.1, Crown, or Crossfire VR4000D. Those amps aren't going to be anywhere near what the amps I listed will do, at least off of one battery. If you need more info on why just ask but unless I have to, I don't feel like typing it right now.

OK I have some time, might as well explain since you'll likely ask anyways. Yuli Shumsky has done extensive street testing with Visonik 4000XDs (Visonik 4000XD=MA HK4000D) and hard a very hard time getting them to burp off of one battery, and when they could get it working, it wouldn't put out much more than 2.2 kw. They are power monsters only if they have big input voltage (around 17-18v) and don't make much power at 12-13v. The US Amps is an A/B 2 channel amp, much too current hungry, likely won't love a single battery and probably wouldn't be able to make much power. Like I said before, your best bet is to look for an SPL Dynamics EXT-3000D, American Bass 200.1, e-Audio 3000D, Crown (James Herren, Street A world champion used a big crown on 2 10" L7s), Crossfire VR4000D, maybe even a D3, a Earthquake PHD-5000, or a Rockford T3000.1. Good luck. Also if you go square, buy L7s. They are louder than SoloXs, but won't last as long. But I think you could buy at least 2 sets of L7s for the price of one set of SoloXs.

FYI.... AB 200.1 is 2 amps in 1 case, thus u cannot use it in Street A.

Look at the EQ PHD 5000, SPL Dyanmics 3000EXT, AB 150.1, RF T30001BD, D3, D2, X-fire 4000d, Zapco 9.0.... list goes on and on

200.1s are supposed to be nearly identical to e-Audio 3000Ds, SPL Dynamics EXT 3000s, I was under the impression they are legal for Street A? Give me a few mins I'll hook y'all up with a link. Sure you're not thinking of the Hifonics Colossus, Qckrun?

Thanks guys!
-To Tommy and Inhuman, i'm very UNfamiliar with usaci and MECA...just looked at MECA today and haven't looked @ usaci. I wish the schedules were up for next year! Anyways, i wanted to decide which organization to concentrate on b/c of what tommy sed...the other organizations rate a lot off power...or other stuff.

-To rick and qck, thanks for the lookout on the amps! (as well as the L7 idea) I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Are there are tentative schedules for next season yet?!?! Anyone from the midwest knoe what my best bet organization wise would be?! a TL sensor will be a must have/ mandatory purchase no matter what organization/setup we go with...its the only set in stone...lol. Thanks for the help guys! Any other information/sites/people to talk to are welcome...i appreciate ANY help. peace

Well dBDrag will undoubtedly be very alive in Ohio, not sure about other organizations but if your area there will be plenty of dBDrags around, Ohio had by far the most people at dBDrag Worlds this year.

Ya you might want to look at all the organizations on power. Some are a little easier than others. Personally, MECA is my favorite and theres quite a few shows in the area. Great turnout and they rate amps by their highest rating or what steve rates them at personally so cheating is down to a minimum unlike usaci where you can be put in 0-150 with 4000w. I sniped out a 2nd place at midwest finals because of that in usaci. Ya ya, its nice to have a 4 foot trophey, but in all reality - is it fair? Not really...
SLAP is pretty nice as well but they rate on cone area so if you are running huge power with a pair of 10s, you are sitting pretty.

I can get a Crossfire 4000D for 1500 Canadian dollars brand new, so I'd say brand new with warranty you'd be looking at a little over 1000. I can find out from Josh what the SPL Dynamics and e-Audios go for and get back to you.
