Just bought a pair of Boston Acoustic 746 4 x 6's to replace the stock speakers in
a 1982 Buick Skylark. Problem is the speaker doesn't drop all the way in on the drivers side ( going in the top of the dash). It looks like it hitting the heating duct.
Never installed any car audio before and would appreciate any help.

I've been reading the forums for a couple of weeks and I love it! Tons of useful info. Picked out the Boston's from some of the posts recommendations. :handclap:

Thanks

all u can do for that is make some kind of spacer to hold the speaker up higher. or u can try to heat up the heater duct with a heat gun and poke at it and make it sink in a bit to fit your speaker

if you have a stock grill or trim piece that snaps back over the speaker you might be out of luck on that spacer and try the heat-up deal at your own risk or try to buy different set of speakers with a more shallow mounting depth.

Did the heat gun thing and it worked great.

Thanks for the info. :)
