just make sure you get the right mat. the bloke which sold me mine gave me a really thick one and it was a ***** 2 work with. i found that using a medium mat and putting more layers is a lot quicker and gets a better finish

im thinking about just buying small amount of resin and mat and going all out on the box and see what happens

go for it. its really easy.. just a bit messy. so use alot of tape and news paper.

would it be a bad idea to use chicken wire to make the form i want then the fleece then the mat? thanks

nope =)

it might have the octognal indentations from the wire though. you might want to put a thin layer of paper mache over the chicken wire (like you didn in 4th grade to make that volcano... havnt we all :rolleyes: ) and then just put matte right on top of that, hell, leave the chicken wire on the back too. itl make it nice and strong. but do the REVERSE mould first. then put it in place, and hot-glue\attach the chicken wire to that.

shouldnt turn out too bad i dont think =)
