as stated in another thread, these measurments don't seem to add up.

Maybe one of the experts here could fix this up?

the B measurement is wrong somehow.

Black_Jesus
10-28-2004, 03:04 PM
it would make the back portion of the port like 9 inches wide which wouldnt be right, it has to be 3" all the way thru, or 9" all the way thru, so yep, its wrong

tRiGgEr
10-28-2004, 03:05 PM
B would have to be 15.75"

tunning would be incorrect.

k ill change it.

Hey guys,

I want a custom trunk for either a 12 or 15 XXX. My question is does the sub have to be all the way to one side? Do I have to build it exactly like above? Or can I center the cutout? I much rather have the sub centered in my trunk, much cleaner and nicer looking. Ifyou don't think it matters where the cut out is, as long as it's in the main chamber, then why is everyone building them like the above pic and not centered?

Cuz not everyone is like you and likes the centered look. Some people like the cut out on the side or just don't care.

Putting it to the side also offers greater structural rigidity ... ;)

Dude is that a real word?

That's a lame explanation. I think most people build it that way because that's what the pics and specs look like. I also think most would want the sub centered but maybe they didn't think that was an option. Just trying to find out if it's necessary to put it all the way to one side.

Just because you think it is a lame explination does not make it so. :waycrazy:

Like I said before, it's still fine to center the sub, but it's not necessarily optimal ...

Holy crapola it just sounded funny to me, Not calling you stupid or anything.

so these plans would be good for a decent box if you change B to 15.75?

No it would throw off the tunning. Basically the whole design is flawed.

Someone should let them know or fix it up for them. I don't have the know how to do it myself, but would love to use that or similar design.

the plans are fine the pic is a pic of the 10in sub box so thats why it looks like that. the pic is just there to show you how it looks. so go ahead and make the box i have the same box. works great.

Wrong do not use the above, or re's posted dimmensions they are incorect.

Dude the picture is fine it's the dimensions that are off.

Anyone think the other plan which is marked 2.5 @ 35 is correct?

osiris999
11-01-2004, 03:57 PM
ok why doesnt anyone think the plans are right when the pic is of how the 10inch sub box looks but instead of putting another pic for the 12inch they just used the same pic. they would of had to put 4 different box pics. the dimensions are fine but the box they show isnt for the 12inch. why cant anyone get this.

osiris999

why doesnt jmac look at the plans and see if the pic is just wrong or not. hes the box makeing god on here

ok,
Take the sub out of the picture all together, ok? Now, it says that g (the first port wall) equals 12, right? It also says b (the outside wall of the box) equals 23.5, yes? Now, not even factoring wall thickness, that would make the distance between h (the second port wall) and a (the back wall of the box) somewhere around 11.5 inches, but f (the port width) is only 3.

Now, do you get what we are ALL trying to say?

osiris999
11-02-2004, 04:02 PM
i get what your saying. what i dont get is why you think the port has to be 3 in wide all around. why cant the back be wider than the front. and where in south la are you im from houma.

what about the sql setup, b is only 15, and g is close to 12 so that is 3 inches. won't that work?

Thats what I'd like to know. If the sql setup is right. Looks like something I might try to use.

Can you tell us the external numbers for width, height, and depth? I have an ext cab truck and was wondering if it would fit my needs.

jmac can you tell me how the box on res site will sound. i already built the box so its too late tobuild another one. i might build another in a few months (and im buying the plans from you).so how do you think the 12 in sq box will sound.

guys. seriously. Jmac designs boxes on this site for money. when he said he had plans for 5 bucks...thats what he meant. he's not just gonna give them out for free. look through box design post such as one that teach you port displacement, the formulas for ported boxes, and stuff like that. Jmac will help and check your **** out and make sure its good, but hes not gonna give you what he worked on for free. just a heads up

Hey George,
Just a heads up....I've told Jmac already that I would pay full price for the plans. However, do YOU think I should pay for a plan he already has that may not fit what I need. I would be happy to pay for the plans of a box that will fit the location that I have.

Oh and your wrong. It will affect the tunning and is incorrect. The port needs to remain a constant 3" all the way.

If you could get it aprt to fix it. But if you sealed it properly thats gonna be a no go.

Sealing off the port would yield you a big ars sealed box. Might be to big.
