The girlfriends birthday is coming up, and i know what she wants, i just need your help deciding exactly what to get...she drives a 2001 honda civic with a factory CD player and the only speakers she has are Sony Xplods in the doors and factory tweeters in the dash. The 6x9s on the back dash are blown so she has all of the sound faded to the front, and it doesnt sound all that great. I am willing to spend 100 bucks on this girl. Should I buy her a nice pair of 6x9s and run them off of the factory deck, or do I buy decent 6x9s and decent door speakers as well. Or do i just get a decent pair of 6x9's and a small amp to push them. I need all the help i can here guys, i have been out of the car audio loop for awhile. Thanks. :veryhapp:

just get all 4 speakers replaced, they all prolly sound like garbage. get on ebay, im sure you can find all four for less than $100 easy. but beware, if she likes it loud, the HU will clip (send a "dirty" signal basically and double in power) and most likely blow the speakers again- that would basically be the only reason aftermarket speakers would blow from a STOCK hu, like 15~20 watts per channel? yea right.

rear soundstage isn't needed, just replace the front ones with some better quality speakers.

Look into infinity KAPPA component sets, preferably off of ebay.

In his situation, Infinity Reference coax's would be MUCH better suited.

Infinity reference? running off of a stock CD player? will they be getting enough power? can i afford to get all 4 replaced with references for 100 bux? what about alpine? i havent heard their speakers, but i love their HU's....

alright the references look adequately priced, but from the reviews i am reading, they sound alot better with an amp to power them...so would it be wise to buy a decent little 2 or 4 channel amp with about 30 watts RMS per channel, such as:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4950&item=5721637238&rd=1

because this one seems extremely cheap, but its more powerful than her stock CD player...what do you think?

i dont need professiional sounding stuff. I just want to know if these will push the references harder than the stock unit.

Save your money, it's not even worth it.

Save your money, it's not even worth it.

so your saying it would push the speakers about the same as the stock HU?

thanks again to all replies

go with the Infinity Reference 6.5's. i had em in a bronco with a cheap sony h/u(just as bad as stock) and they sounded great.
