here is a link to the monitor i have

http://www.lafayetteradio.com/Mobile_Video/LSWR7500.htm

in the description it says:
*Two video inputs
*one audio input
*and one audio output (headphone jack)
*built in speaker

i understand all that but on the monitor this is what i dont understand, it has yellow and white female rca and a black and red male RCA

this is what i dont understand. how can that equal up to two video inputs and one audio input?

i thought the yellow female was video, the white was sound, and the red and black male RCA's were sound output so i could hook it up to my head unit.

could someone please explain what each hookup is for?

also my monitor has lines that run down it when my ps2 is going. the picture is kinda fuzzy and has loss of color sometimes. i think maybe i dont have it hooke dup to a good enough power or ground source but i am not sure. also none of the buttons on the monitor or the remote change anything (i.e) contrast vid1/vid 2 , and volume of the on board speaker, which i have not yet got to work.

okay let me give this a try as i just installed my over head lcd . I belive the white and yellow are the black are the video. Oh and the reason the ur monitor has lines is cus it is a bad one. I mean none of ur buttons work either . Yeah sorry to tell u this u have a shisty montior .

But one more thing when u install that in to ur head liner becareful I mean very careful. Use short screws. If u do not. Once u look at ur roof u will kno why i said this.

still doesnt ansewr why i have 4 rca and only 3 inputs so it says.

also i thinki just didnt hook up my montior to a sufficient power source..... i mean, it is only not clear when i play the ps2, otherwise it is. i dont think the buttons dont work because it is ******, i dont think i konw how to work it... it didnt come with a manual.

well see u have 2 video input which = 2 wires and the other 2 are ur audio input.

yellow and black = video input

red & black= audio input

then that audio output is ur headphone jack.

See an monitor does not need much power at all. In actuallty u can burn them up with to much power. I wired mine into my glove box light. I doubt is the power. BUt by lookin at ur drawin it seems that u are tryin to run it to the monitor then to ur cd player. U can not do that. You have to pick one.

p.s. I was not downin ur monitor. I was just say that is sounds broke. I would also play with my the plug on the back of the PS2. It might help some .

I am sorry that my first post was not so helpful.

if u need more help get at me

thanks bro i understand what you are saying, no offense taken.

so let me get this straight:

Yellow-Female is video in
White-Female is also video in
Red Male is audio in
and black Male is also audio in?

thanks for the information about power starving the monitor and how much it needs, i found that to be helpful. about the buttons not working which is weird i tried to call legacy and no one ever answers.... hmmm i dunno i will keep trying.

just another question.... if i need a "cable extension" as in for the yellow and white cords coming from the ps2, i bouht an extension cord and connected it to the ps2 coard (both ends are male) with a female on both sides adapter. this is okay to do right? someone told me i would be "lowering my video and sound quality or somethin"

thanks for the help bro

yeah extentions would be fine. Just make sure u get video rca extentions. Oh and also check there website for an manual . www.Legacycaraudio.com

oh and check ur monitor ground. THat might sovle some of ur problems. Oh and also when u told me about those lines in ur screen form ur PS2. I tore my car apart and hooked up my ps2. And i was gettin them too . They are like plaid pattern ( not color put a plaid fannel pattern.

We for that i do not kno what to tell u. I noticed I got it when a sound was comin through the speakers.

I was also gettin a white line at the top. MY friend told me about how u can try and ground the ps2 base to the chasiss of ur car.

If u need more help get at me

update

alright here is the update.

the yellow female is deffinately a video, this is the ONLY rca i can get video from..
The white female is deffinately a sound, this is the ONLY rca i can get sound from

the black male and the red male--well i am not sure what these are.....

also, when i hook earphones up to the monitor, i hear sound fine, its a little low, but i hear it fine.

my "audio out" which is the headphone jack, what ihear fine from with headphones, if i hook that up to my cd player i get a low buzzing noise....
this low buzzing noise is unusuall beacause when i hook that same cord to my xm raido it works fine with no buzzing, to the monitor this is a buz, but not with headphones :verymad:

i think i might know the problem, for me to hook up the ps2 i bought a DC to AC converter..... it said on the package that some "low quality electronics" may transmit a very "low" buzzing sound. unfortunaly it is not our fault it is the companys fault."

maybe thats where the buzzing is coming from?

yeah it is that. DO this test, take ur PS2 out and set it on the floor of ur garage. Then take it the power cord and plug it in to the wall of ur house.THen u will get it. Oh amd be shure to ground that inverter good.

oh what u need to do it just hold ur PS2 up to ur head unit. Cus really meakes no sense for the monitor to have a speaker. IT is like have a hifi home stereo then useing the speakers that came with the TV. U feel me ....

if u have any more question do not heitate to ask.

p.s. oh be shure to give us an up date.

p.s.s. I just sent them an e-mail about problem also.

great, everything works now, pretty good too.

i just still have that crappy picture..wiht the lines like you were talking about. but couldnt it be caused from like a bad power source or ground source or jsut either one>?

that and the monitor buttons dont work.

well it more like interfearence like if u have ur music up loud on ur computer. And see the lines in the screen. U get it. But try an home dvd player, then see how the monitor performs. LIke i said it could be a ground. U have to try and ground the chasis of the PS2.
