Ok I am going to be replacing the stock speakers in my car soon so I am looking for some 4x6's to replace them. I had been looking at INFINITY REFERENCE 6402cfp but I have no clue really what to look for. Right now I don't plan on getting a amp just for them but if it is needed I will get one. I was also looking at some RF's and some more infinity's but like i said i have no clue what I am looking for in speakers. Any help on which would be some nice speakers for me???????

You don't look for anything; you listen to what sounds good to your ears ;)

Go demo some at your local shops and BB/CC and see what you think sounds good.

Sight problem, there are really no shops around me. I have to drive quite a ways to get to a shop or else I would be living down there...lol.

As far as OEM replacements, I've had an affinity for Infinity Reference line.

The reference plates are good speakers.... I like the sound. I am putting them in my truck. They get much better midbass than most 4x6's cause of the remote mount...they get my vote.

Ah good taste, as I see it they are the sweetest 4x6's out there. Great plate speakers, and will handle a lot of juice, sound great, very loud, etc.

I used to have 2 sets of Infinity referance 4x6 plates in my Fiero (don't have it anymore)... I had numerous people say that even though I didn't have any bass I had some of the cleanest sound out of any of their friends (high school)

plates have a seperate midbass and tweeter,....the mid base is 4" i think

i to own the ba's and the infinitys....the ba's r beet to **** so i dont no what they would really sound like but they do get loud as hell for a 4x6....both would be solid choices

Ok I think I am going with the Infinity Kappa 462.5. But I am now in search of a amp to power them, they are rated at 60RMS at 4 ohms. I don't know if I should power them off me head unit or I should get an other amp for them. There are no shops around me so I can't go and listen to them or talk to a sales person so I am reling you your guy's recomdations.... If they need an other amp I would like to keep it as cheap as possible...

Thanks agian...

yea plates are basically component speakers mounted on a plate for easy installation in stock locations.

Wait till you get them and run them off of your HU and see how you like. If it's not quite what you were looking for, then start investigating amps. If you are happy with them off of the HU, then keep it that way.

An amp is better, but everyone has different goals for their stereos and some people are perfectly happy running speakers off of their HU. Others, like myself, can not fathom having less than 200w on their frontstage :)
