View Full Version : Cast Frame?

Does anyone know what a "cast Frame" component speaker is compared to the standard style. I have been told that for my next pair of components that the install in the doors will be a cinch with "cast Frame" components because of the crappy quality of the door panels. I am looking at CDT's and will email them Monday, but for now? anyone know?

08-28-2004, 02:07 AM
thats what i thought it was,
most frames are cast and not forged because of price
08-28-2004, 02:09 AM
I'll give you $200 for those Scosche 5.25's
08-28-2004, 02:11 AM

08-28-2004, 05:49 AM
if it is referring to a cast frame/basket vs a stamped frame/basket then the cast will be much stronger than the stamped but i dont see how it would affect install at all
08-28-2004, 05:53 AM
actually sorry to burst your bubble there Depression but i got dibs on those scosches....they are going into my 1991 Geo Metro... it has 3 cylinders, and all of them work!! (inside joke)

Apparently????? It has to do with the Door panels that the components are going into. I was told that with the Cast Frame it will cause the door panels "NOT" to indent as much..atleast thats the theory I am hearing. Albiet if thats what he meant by cast frame..Something to do with the fit and door panels not being as screwed up as without.
The doors do not have stock speakers..so the Cast speakers "supposedly" make the install with cut outs easier and less obvious and modified
