Hey all.. I have a question regarding Alpine head units and AiNet.. I picked up a CDA-9835 a few weeks back with the intention to use it with my iPod (once the cable is available from Alpine) as well as with XM Radio.. It just occurred to me yesterday that I may not be able to do this - what does the XM connection to the head unit use.. is it through AiNet? (From what i remember on the back of my HU there was another connector that I didn't know what it was for...)

If it is through AiNet, can you use multiple devices..? or is it one or the other??

Thanks in advance!

yes... but when you connect the alpine xm tuner to the radio... i think it has an input on it as well... so you can hook the ai-net to auxillary connecter to the xm unit... and hook the ipod to that... so you can still run both... i don't exactly know how it works but i'm pretty sure that's how it is... at least with the pioneer and it's IP-Bus connectors...

or ALpine makes a dual input connector, connects to the ainet on the hu and gives you 2 sets of rca inputs..

You can hook more than one device to the Ai-net, just need the adapter.

BTW, the 9835 also has the aux inputs you could also use, but will not give u the perks of the Alpine controls working on the IPod.

The 9835 does not have AI-net, it has AI-Changer control, but it is still not compatible with the Ipod adapter. (According to the guy I talked to at ALpine.)
