I hear Amazing stuff about these Alpines..I never really considered Alpine (speakers) in the same league as these others..maybe I will give them a listen.

I still gotta Say those OZ Audio 180Cs everyone jocked at the USACI tests are pretty **** sweet! No one knows much about OZ Audio I guess, but to be the first ever perfect score in the history of SQ competition gets my attention.

so far it looks like the alpines are in the lead.

You know..I went to look a the Alpines since this forum topic..I could not remember why I had not taken hem more seriously in my research...KNOW I EMEMBER..THE RMS RAING IS TINY!!!! only 40 watts

Maybe this is one of those deals where Alpines Ratings are conservative but I am not going to pump 120 watts of Arc audio at these things..there is a reason they are under $200! Powered off a H/U they are probably amazing...Amp powered???I don't think thats a wise choice!

Alpine rates their RMS very conservatively, I have seen these run with 100W RMS, and they absolutely sing.

Has anyone else fed alot of watts to these ALPINES...Maybe I will give them a try..they are VERY affordable (**** ebay has some for like $100)

Plus..are we talking type S or Type R's???

I will investigate
I was going to go with these new speakers called PYLE's

I was going to post this as a thread, but my threads don't get any play..BUT

WHY DO I NEVER HEAR ABOUT BOSTON ACOUSTICS ON THIS SITE OR ANY OTHER???

A couple spots in L.A. like Al And Eds car Stereo pretty much only sell Boston Acoustics..THEY ARE PRICEY. BUT I DON'T THINK I HAVE EVER HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THEM
Anyone have a valid reason why?

They are not talked about much, but I have never seen anything bad written about them. I myself have the Boston Acoustic 6.5 Pros, and running their plate speakers as well. The BA 6.5's are great, the do however lack in midbass but everything else is amazing. BA also has a new line out and done away with the 6.5 Pros, and the new line is between the Pros and the Z's, and are suppose to have quite a bit more midbass. As far as it goes I'll only use Boston Acoustic for speakers... but if I had to I would also use Alpine Type X's, and Focal.

hehe, it makes me happy to see ebay prices, and then think hey I paid only $260 CDN for mine (From the only authorized dealer in the province).

I wouldn't worry too much about RMS on the Type X's, Alpine underrates their stuff by a lot. The Type X's should handle 120 or so, and that's more then enough for components.
