What are some good 2ohm comps?

Image dynamics has a horns and trad. comp set in 2 ohm configuration. I also believe Morel and Dynaudio have mid-bass drivers available in 2ohm.

Speaking of 2ohm...What is the deal with 3ohm components...ORION makes a set of 3ohm components that supposedly really SING...But the 3 ohm thing is odd to me..I was unaware you could run a 3ohm load..I thought it was 4ohm....2ohm...and occasionally 1ohm??

If your amp is rated for 4ohm, then it will run 4ohm and any higher load. Doesn't matter if it's 4.1ohm or 6.3ohm or 8.2ohm, the amp will handle it fine. If your amp is rated 2ohm, then it can run 2ohm and any higher load (2.1ohm, 2.5ohm, 3ohm, etc etc). Same thing for 1ohm.

Also, impedence isn't constant, it varies with frequency, temperature, box used, etc etc. The 4ohm that a speaker is rated is a "nominal" impedence, which is kinda like an average. So, even though your speaker is a "rated" 4ohm speaker, at some points it could actually be 8ohm and at some points it could actually be 3.6ohm, etc etc etc. So in reality, your amp never sees a steady load, it is constantly changing.

As for 2ohm components, IIRC Orion has/had some. If you just want mids, Image Dynamics has 2ohm 6.5"ers, the CX62.

I wanna get a pair of XXX 6.5(2ohm) for mids and then get a set of comps to go along.

Can I run two channels at 2ohm and the two other channels at 4ohm????

sure you can if your 4 channel amp was designed to run at 2ohms..... :D :D :D

So I could send 170 watts at 2 ohm to a pair of XXX 6.5 comps and 75 watts to a pair of RE comps at 4 ohm off of the same amp.
