Ok, new here. I like music, reasonably loud, clear, heavy on the high frequency stuff. Not looking for an audiophile system, not looking to shake the neighborhood.

For those of you installers, here's what i've had that has been adequate for me.
1. 97 cobra with mach 460
2. 99 camaro SS monsoon 500
3. 99 trans am monsoon 500
4. 98 vette, bose premium
5. 01 acura cl type S, 200 watt bose 6 disc.

any of those are ok, i need to come up with a system that will at least match those in my new car.

BMW z3 (M roadster). 2000 model, the harmon kardon crap system is what it's got now. Not too bad with the top up, but top down forget about it. Pretty pathetic for a premium stereo from BMW in a 45k car (new).

This car has an I believe alpine non powered head unit, CD (i'd like to keep this for interior look) with low level outputs. 2 amps in the trunk for the speakers.

Front are 5 1/4 in the kick panel, and separate mid and highs in the door.

4" behind the seats

6.5 sub box between the seats.

I'm planning on new amp, and new speakers (i'd use the fronts but the crossover is built into the current amp, so might as go with a new set).

Thinking:
5 channel amp
6.5" components up front just 2 way though (they will fit ok)
4" in the back
new 6.5" sub in the same box, space is cramped.

Was looking at EBAY for options, i'm trying to stay cost conscious, remember looking for a good solid stereo, not something that's perfect, nor something that's crazy loud.

Planned budget around 400. (i do have a 6.5" sub to replace now and if i didn't change the 4" behind the seat right now it wouldn't be the end of the world.

All those amps you listed are crap. Sorry if thats mean. Looks like your downgrading the system IMO.

if your looking for a cheap 5 channel thats altleast decent id say look at the HIFONICS ZX8000 5 Channel, for front speakers you can find CDT CL-62s for about 150. as far as the 4" ad say somthing CDT/Focal/diamond or even infinity kappa ( you can find cheap ) are pretty good. as far as a sub thats 6.5 thats asking a bit much. maybe you could fit a RE 8 which are only 50 bucks and only require .217 cf of air space.

PM Djdilliodon hes a CDT dealer.
