in the mounting of components i know that the tweeters frequencies are very directional and should be aimed perfectly, but what about the midrange? does it have to be aimed at the listner?

Well it *should* be. Thats the main reason alot of us make kick pods: to aim the mids. Some/most work fine off axis, they just usually are much better on. But in the doors is fine, just not the BEST for imaging.

The midrange is actually more important than the tweeter IMO. The midrange where your ears are most sensitive, and it's the range where most of the music is located.

But most car speakers are designed to be used in stock locations (IB and off-axis). So, like juju said....off-axis is OK, on-axis is usually better.
