Building up side panels....advice plz.

Been a loooong time since i posted on this thread, sorry guys, i know u missed me!!

Got rid of the bmw, got a Tahoe now.

Still got the 12"XXX BUT STILL want to upgrade to a 15"XXX.

What i want to do is build the box higher so i can still have space in the trunk.

In order to do this i will have to build up the rear panels, so it will look more fluid.

If u look at this picture, u see the side panels were redone, not like stock, that's what i want to do.

But i too would like a more natural look/feel as the original paneling like in this pic

Was wondering if there was anything else bsides fiberglass that i could use?

mdf should work wrapped in vinyl if it isnt too curvy.

48" wide and 22" tall will fit. the depth is up you. i did 16". my box is 8 cubes in a 97 burb. if you build up the panels it will look retarded from out side.
just build the sides of the box down to the arm rest thingy

22" is the spot i'm trying to get at, the 16.5" actually is where the armrest/cupholder is.

Not sure if the 97 is the same, i think that was the year with the rear spear tire?

This is a 12" xxx in a 16.5"H x 24"L x 18.5"D box.

Now if i get the 15" XXX, i'd build it in a 22" box like u said, which is much higher n looks weird if i just did that, because i will have that huge gap.

If you want curves glass is the way, if you want straight, flat, shelve like then mdf would work. Personally I would build a frame and glass it though :)

I'm thinking Frame wid MDF then glass ,

but that curve at the edge, i really wanted that, think i could cut it n glass it into the built up mdf? Or glass over it?

the 97 is with the tire.
i had to take out because the box wouldnt fit with it in there.
the stuid tire is at a slant. i didnt measure that :smash:
BTW, the older burbs/hoes have more room in the back.
i still have 8 useable seats !
Glass it the way to go.
