Mb quarts all the way. Already told you my decision.

07-09-2004, 03:29 AM
id go for OZ....try something new that not everyone else uses...Mb quarts are way harsh...

07-09-2004, 09:02 AM
warren, my cdt's sound incredible now that I fixed the hifi buys problem. the imaging is superb from the stock location. wait till i get the m519 kit in and take a listen to it, see how you like it.

You should check ebay that ma change your opinion?
OZ AUDIO CS-180 $270
PCE-216 $240
Diamond S600 $320

07-09-2004, 01:17 PM
Well if the Oz are 270 on ebay - that's one hell of a deal. I'd change my vote and go for oz then and I did kind of think about it later and I remember trenton (grandamgt) telling me that mb quarts are a lil on the harsher side.

07-09-2004, 05:51 PM
keep the vote going.......

mb quarts are not that harsh - remember i have w7 screaming and need some comps that can keep up and not be drowned

07-09-2004, 06:09 PM
If you like a lot of detail and hearing things in songs that you haven't heard before, go with the Diamond Hex's! They are awesome! Not to mention they love power.

remember its all in the installl, just cuz u get the best or most expensive components doesnt mean theyr gona sound the best in ur situation. Perhaps u should look into doing a set of custom kicks before anything. what components do u have now?

07-09-2004, 06:54 PM
Warren ... if you like the MB Quarts and have heard them before, then go with those.

See if you can hear some other sets at whatever stores you have locally and see if you can make some decisions based on that.

i have heard the diamond audio and i have heard the mb quarts....

both sound good to me..... they guy convinced me the crossovers on the quarts are better than diamond audio's.....

feedback please..........

remember guys i'm only dealing w/84 watts rms (underrated).

(comps i have now are kappas - they are being moved to the back of hte car)

Hex's are soooooo smooth and if you make a decent sealed enclosure for the midbass the midbass is awsome to, Why not try DIY comps?

diy comps??????
Do It Yourself

07-11-2004, 08:37 PM
nah........ too much work - rather just buy 1 set.....

i want 6.5s in the front but i'm not sure if they'll fit..

will a 6.5 midbass woofer w/a special plate built fit into a 5x7 slot?

i know a 5.25 will but wasn't sure about a 6.5

07-11-2004, 08:51 PM
I voted for MB Quarts. I have some comps from them and I love them. Im definitely an MB Quart fan.

decision made

Do tell ... do tell ...

I'm interested in what you have planned.

07-13-2004, 11:05 PM
i got some metal plates i'm gonna test to see if they fit in the frame / them mbquarts premium series components 6.5 i shall have installed in my doors by me....... and moved my kappa components 5.7's to the rear deck..

silk tweeter in the back for those that have the components right next to their head *rear deck elevated so speaker is close to ear

aluminum tweeter in front to balance the massive amount of bass my w7 produces & balance the elevated power source from the components that will be installed in the back

should be a great balance, and of course the 6.5 midbass in the front along w/the amount coming from the comp's in the back - this should be an ideal setup.

we shall see, measurements this weekend - purchase on sunday - installed week of the 25th.

would you like to know why i choose mb quarts over the rest of the market??

07-13-2004, 11:06 PM
oh and a review will come soon enough!!!

as u know, i'm good for it!

review of the zx6400 & pg600.4 still in progress

07-14-2004, 09:39 AM
dont like any personally....but the OZ's are the best "natural" sounding- warmest sounding tweet of the ones listed- and they've gotten great reviews by car mags

07-14-2004, 08:54 PM
decision has already been made

cant go wrong with ID.

07-17-2004, 06:36 PM
i eneded up ordering the ID 6.5's 2ohms.......

150 rms from my tantrum @ 2ohms goin to each speaker, then 85 still goin to back..

having comps in the back w/85rms goin to them then the LARGER comps in the front w/ 150 watts goin to them...... balance shouldnt' be a problem.

oh yeah, both sets (infiniti's and Image dynamics) have silk dome tweeters :)

07-17-2004, 06:38 PM
Let us know what you think of the ID's.

Try to do a review without the rear components on :)

- Steve

07-17-2004, 06:53 PM
i will, i'll do a review of both of them - i still haven't done one of the kappas...

only bad thing is - id's 2ohms are on backorder and have been since the end of may

07-18-2004, 01:18 PM
here's the reason why i'm moving kappa components ot back and getting new components to the front - i have NO CLUE how this happened........

07-18-2004, 01:34 PM
Warranty :)

I highly doubt you pushed them that hard ... there had to have been a flaw somewhere.

- Steve

07-18-2004, 01:45 PM
e-mail already sent to anthony @ ikesound, however plan still is in affect - kappa comps in rear id's in the front

07-18-2004, 01:47 PM
ive always had good quality from mb quart

07-18-2004, 03:27 PM

07-18-2004, 04:17 PM
If he doesnt warrenty them just get some of the cheap cdt coaxials for the rear.

07-18-2004, 05:05 PM
what areyou talking about pack??????

07-21-2004, 10:22 PM
anyone here other than steve have any experience w/id's comps>?

07-22-2004, 11:18 AM
I ran the JL XRs and loved them. I have changed to the OZ components, and the midbass is very impressive. I got my comps at the local shop, but sounddomain sells the OZ 6 1/2 components for $339 I believe, and they are authorized(afaik). So far, I am very happy with mine.

THANKS FOR THE INFO. I THINK I'LL DO FINE W/THE ID'S whenever they decide to arrive
