After Gauntlet and I spent about 5 days on this project, and about 5 trips to Home Depot and two to Walmart, the project is complete. The cup/cigarette pack/remote holder is finally done......

very insightful comment...obviously coming from someone who could never fathom the process of fiberglassing, let alone possess the ability to do so

F*** what they're talking about. Looks fine, does its intended job, and you gained some experience while doing it. The only problem I notice is that it kinda looks out of place. However, I'm sure it's functionality more than makes up for this.

Waste of time? Yes. Waste of money? Yes. Did we have fun doing it? Yes. Does it work? Yes. :smash:

If it serves it's purpose, and you had fun doing it. Then it's the $hit :)

i like the idea, and i like how it came out.....maybe u could wrap it in grey (sp?) vinyl and it would match your console more than the carpet, i like it though, nice work.

Ugly as hell. Go's to show you what beer, weed, and white trash can accomplish together.

Why don't you just buy a better car with a cup holder in it???????

Good one! My face is chagrined right now.

Vinyl definitely would have looked better, but it was very hard to cover just in carpet, due it being long, square, and curvy (had to make 4 seams), so it would have been a lot worse with vinyl.

And it only cost about 40 bucks....would have been less if I wasn't so careless with the brushes, at least 20 bucks was spent just on them......da*n, that got me thinking, maybe we should have parlayed that money on some ponies down at the racetrack and bought ourselves a new Trailblazer!

If it works, that's all that matters.
If you like it, that's all that matters.

the only thing i would say is that maybe putting the drink in front woulda saved space....

Since I'm not a smoker I have to say it's not something I'd do, but the sheer usefulness of it is no doubt helpful I'm sure. shrinkydinx is right though. I wondered why it stuck up so high when I looked at the finished product, and it had to be that way to accomidate the drink holder. The cigarette pack and remote holder are much shallower, and if the drink holder where in front, cigarette pack in the middle, and remote at the rear the whole assembly could have been much lower overall, helping it to blend more in the vehicle. Pretty cool idea though, and I bet carpeting that thing must have been a major pain. Good work guys. Now fiberglass some kickpanels or door pods, a box, and half the dash, and you're good to go. :)

Well, it was originally just going to be a cupholder, in which case it wouldn't have looked so funky and out-of-place as that's how I designed it, but halfway through it we thought, ****, why not add a cigarette and remote holder...but I didn't feel like re-doing any of it, and that's why it looks so weird. Believe me, after we finished we must have spent literally an hour just staring at pondering how absurd it is. As far as the carpeting....it wasn't really all that bad, aside from the seams....only took about 45 minutes.

And I already built a set of kick panels for him. :thumbsup
