I have 2 mtx 10"s and i built my own box for them... i made it out of 3/4" mdf and the volume is between .8 and .9 for each sub as specified on the chart that came with them. The box rattles like crazy you can hardly turn the subs up before they sound like they are blowing and the box rattles. I sealed the box with caulk and then today i tried reinforcing it with some 2x4"s and it sounds almost just as bad any suggestions on why my box is rattling?

take your box into a dark room(with speakers out of course) and look into the speaker holes with a bright light going aroung the edges and see if it is sealed up good enough.

You may not be hearing the box rattel as much as you are hearing the speakers distorting. You very well may have the speakers getting coil rub.

Do you hear rattle, or air leaks? I ALWAYS use screws on my box and have NEVER had any problems with them. I use Liquid nail too. Granted once you use liquid nail you will NEVER get the box apart.

lots of liquid nails and lots of screws all predrilled, never had a leak in any of my boxes.

pavengmike6 can you tell me more about " coil rub " i think that might be the problem cause i tightened and sealed the box more than once...

got it guys... just added A LOT of caulk then tried it and it sounded crappy but i realized that out side of my car it's probably 100 times quieter so i stuck it in the hatch and holy crap it works perfectly. thanks =)
