I was just wanting your guys opinion on a set of 4 inch components. What do you guys recommend? I want to stay with 4 inch so I can mount them in my existing dash location(size change would very dificult). Would I notice a difference going from a set of 4'' coaxials to a set of componnents?

haven't heard any 4" component sets so i can't recommend one. i was looking for set a while ago for a friend and found some good deals on ebay for them. you'll hear a difference after you upgrade to components. your imaging will definitely improved.

just browsed ebay and found this

You certainly will notice a difference. I am not a fan of those Alpine Type S speakers... the midbass distorts a lot when you turn it up and the treble is too harsh due to the aluminum tweeters. You may want to look into Boston Acoustics, Diamond HEX or M3 or whatever it is, Soundstream makes some I forgot what series... there's many others I can't think of.

Now heres another question, In my hu I have the front hp crossover set at 150hz. Is the external crossover still needed? Ive never used components before.

Yes, the passive crossover that comes with the comp set is still necessary. The passive xover splits the frequencies between the mid & the tweeter. Your HU's highpass only keeps the lower frequencies from getting to the mid.
