CDT no longer produces or has the 6x9's in stock...

Where there's a will there's a way. I just integrated a fiberglass pod into the plastic of my door panels because the speakers I decided I wanted were too deep for the factory location. Don't tell me bolting up a simple adaptor or even cutting your own out of hardboard is a pain in the ***.

I went from this:

If you want good speakers in there then 6x9s are not the way to go.

**** that's got to do wonders for imaging! It wouldn't seem so difficult except for the fact that you matched the pods to the door seamlessly.

Actually they look really bad right now. The seam has a crack where the body filler pulled away from the panel. I have a lead on some filler that will stick better and will flex with the panel and hope to fix them this weekend.

Hmm... My guess is this happened because the pod and speaker were too heavy for whatever you used before?

Ever make DIY?

Actually it was because nothing short of epoxy sticks to the polypro door panels. Polyester fiberglass resin doesn't stick well and the polyester filler sticks even less well. Add the flexing of the plastic panel causing the filler to pull loose.

If you're stuck on using 6x9's I used the diamond m3s for a while and they were pretty good.

are you amping them?

that makes a major difference...

and i recommend Boston Acoustics or Alpine for coaxials...
