ok so i decided to get 6.5" components over 6x9's, my question is w/ an extended cab truck i have to mount these things in some sort of box i guess, can i make one out of mdf for speakers?? can they be sealed?? or have to be free-air. is it ok to mount them high and point them down, or mount them low and point them staright across the truck, or is there any difference at all, where they are??

You can put them in a box if you want to, having them in an enclosure will often lead to better low-end bass response. A lot of the time, though, speakers are just left free-air and they do very well.

You can make some adapter plates for your speakers if you want to keep them in stock locations.

You can mount the speakers wherever you want but their placement and direction can make them sound very different. Stock locations, a lot of the time, aren't optimal but are good enough. If you're really in to staging and imaging you've just got to try out different spots.

Good luck.
