View Full Version : 98 Accord Build

04-14-2014, 03:35 AM
This is what I have done to my 98 Accord recently. It was a few week process that I worked on when I had time and nothing special compared to some of the peoples on here, but I did put decent amount of work into it and just thought I would post some pics. Originally I did not think about putting it up till after I had already finished so I did have some pictures but not of every single step of the process. I am still new to getting pictures on here so not to sure how to do it any other way than attaching the files

In the first picture I had just taken my box out and started working on getting everything out of the trunk

Next I had made a temp-let of how the inside was made where I was going to be mounting the wood, cut it out and started cutting the holes out for my speakers

After this I mounted the wood with the subs already attached and secured it to the car, also I ran some of my wire better to make everything easier and look nice when it was finished, then made some new grounds and sealed up any spots around the wood

I cut a piece of wood out for the floor and it fit a little loosly before putting the carpet walls back in, but after the sheet of wood was nice and snug

Running all my wires under the carpet I mounted my amps upside down to the bottom of the wood hanging down into the section where the spare tire used to be making them out of site and giving me my trunk space back :D and then mounted my second battery over on the side with a couple of brackets to make sure it was not going anywhere

I decide to do this because I wanted my trunk space back and the box was not letting me get what I wanted out of my subs. Now they sound a lot better and love the lows

If you took the time to check this out, thanks.
If anyone is interested this is the guide I followed that helped me do this

nice man, good work! are those 15s? im in the middle of rebuilding mine going to do a tantric hdd 15 sealed off from the trunk ported @35Hz. 5ft^3 after all displacements.

I ended up with a 3" thick wall for my sub(s). if you want some ideas on finishing the trunk or baffle, check out my build in the same car (2001).

I love seeing IB builds. Looks really clean. Just 1 question, are your grounds on the spare tire tiedown hump? Is that ideal to use?

Two of my grounds are, it is a pretty thick piece of metal and I checked it with my dmm to see how good of a ground it was. It read good so I put them there and have not had a problem so far

Thanks, I just learned something.

i would recommend against using the spare tire tiedown hump. the best location would be on the floor itself and not through the pinch weld that is holding that part on.

Just an update on a couple of things I have done to my build. It was nice having my amps mounted under the board but they were not easy to access and I like to see them so I made this amp rack. I know it does not look the best but I put a good bit of work into it.
I will am planing to try and add another 6.5in speaker to each front door

08-21-2014, 06:19 PM
In the progress of working on getting some new stuff and adding some new things over the next few months:
1. Singer 280a alt (being built now)
2. (2) ppi bk 1800: which I already have
3: A lot more deadening
4: 2 runs of 1/0
5: 2 sets of comps
6: (2) 15" thinking hdc3 but not 100% sure yet
7: Adding another batt or 2
Probably will be December before I get everything I listed but that is what's to come

Let me know what you think

So here in an update--After a good bit of time, hard work, and part searching/ moding I have now got my new alt put in and started taking everything apart on the inside to get the old wire. Suppose to have 2 HDC3 subs on the way but it is starting to look like the guy is not going to send them. But anyways here are a few pics:

old alt next to the Singer alt

So got everything back in under the hood and my big 3 back together. Plan on to go through and double up my wire on the 3 and clean it up a bit but for now it will be like this

Just seeing what is was getting voltage wise after hot in park at idle. The old alt showed 13.8

Got the seat out and the carpet up ready to run all my power wire tomorrow

I did and it fit just fine. Will get pics up today

09-25-2014, 05:20 PM
Okay so I was able to get a good bit done yesterday. I have everything finished besides the trunk which will be a bit before I am completely finished in the back because I plan to make it look nice. Right now I am kind of at a standstill until I get some more ring terminals in. Seems like I alwasy need me than I accounted for. So right now I am only using one power wire with one sub amp and my vocal amp till I get everything else in. I am probably doing about 1250 watts at the most right now with just the front battery in and my voltage dip at all when I am at idle so I am ready to get everything to see how it will do. So on to the pics:

This is where I ran my power wire down through the firewall. What you see in the pic is my positive wire, my negative come through at the same spot just ran it differently under the hood so you do not see it in this pic.
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_1831_zps5004868d.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_1831_zps5004868d.jpg.html)

As you can see here is the wire going from front to back
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_1833_zpsad2ffa23.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_1833_zpsad2ffa23.jpg.html)

Wire going under where the back seat will be and up in the hole under the rear deck
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_1834_zps26ac168e.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_1834_zps26ac168e.jpg.html)

Carpet laid back down just fine with wire under it
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_1835_zpsdd254019.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_1835_zpsdd254019.jpg.html)

Ran two new lines of positive and negative Sky High 14g wire to each door for my 6.5in speakers and eventually two 6.5in speakers in each door. Could not get it through the rubber tube so I just attached them to it but this seems to be working fine
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_1848_zps3a68a03c.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_1848_zps3a68a03c.jpg.html)

Put the seat part back in and the wire ran fine under it. Did not cause the seat to stick up or anything.
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_1850_zps8b497dc9.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_1850_zps8b497dc9.jpg.html)

Front seat went back in fine and carpet was fit back like nothing was even under it
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_1851_zpsefe3ff31.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_1851_zpsefe3ff31.jpg.html)

All my rca wires are ran on the opposite side as I already had
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_1853_zpsbb9972ff.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_1853_zpsbb9972ff.jpg.html)

Got all of the rear seat back in and everything went back together no problem. The part where you still see the power wire running into the trunk fits just fine behind the part that goes there( the piece between the door and back seat) as it is hollow behind it so you have a good amount or space to work with

put this in for the test run and for a temp set up till I get the rest of what I need to finish the electrical side of things

more updates to come on the trunk and will be getting new subs down the road seeing as the ones that were suppose to be on the way has fell through and I am in the process of getting my money back

So got some new stuff in this past Thursday, but have not had the chance to open it and start working on installing it till today.
Picked up a pair of QP-MR6.5 and QP-TH25 "SuperTweeter" from SoundQubed

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_1958_zpsd3770da0.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_1958_zpsd3770da0.jpg.html)

Tweeters were way bigger than I expected them to be so I did not get to install them in my intended location

Have not played anything on them yet but they are way bigger than the kenwoods I had in there

Had to make some spacers so it would not hit the window and was still a tight fit when making sure the door would fit back on properly
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_1968_zpse76b51a5.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_1968_zpse76b51a5.jpg.html)

This is the location I decided to put the tweeter for now which I know might not be the best but we will see

Well since the deal fell through on the subs I had paid for I received my money back through PayPal a few days ago. So I have been thinking since all of that happened that I am actually pretty content with my sub stage and decided to work some more on my front stage after getting those SQ speakers in. I have been in need/want of a new HU and I needed a two channel amp to run my middle speakers off of so I just bought a Pioneer 80prs and a PPI bk210.2 to go with the rest of my matching amps.
I did a good bit of reading on which HU to buy and it seemed like this one was the best choice for me so hopefully I will like it

10-18-2014, 07:45 PM
So I got all my stuff in a few days ago and just decided to wait until I finished up my trunk before posting anything up so I have several pics

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_2045_zpsacb60af6.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_2045_zpsacb60af6.jpg.html)
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_2049_zpse44e7e9f.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_2049_zpse44e7e9f.jpg.html)

The amp and a few install accessories
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_2051_zps5ec1b0ae.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_2051_zps5ec1b0ae.jpg.html)
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_2055_zps2ff5739e.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_2055_zps2ff5739e.jpg.html)

Got the 80prs in. I think it looks pretty good since all my other stuff is white and black
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_2059_zpsf45b0285.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_2059_zpsf45b0285.jpg.html)

So I wanted to make my trunk look a lot better than just 4 amps threw in there in a lot of wire so I started making a cover
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_2063_zpsff99d6b8.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_2063_zpsff99d6b8.jpg.html)

Got everything lined up and cut out
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_2066_zps9b68fbb5.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_2066_zps9b68fbb5.jpg.html)

This gives an idea of how it will look in the car
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_2071_zps72be10fc.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_2071_zps72be10fc.jpg.html)

I know a lot of people think painted mdf looks bad but I had the paint and did not feel like carpeting and I think the white paint goes good with the black amps
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_2073_zpsbdab0c68.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_2073_zpsbdab0c68.jpg.html)

Started getting the amp slayed out and running the wire
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_2078_zpse29f5f29.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_2078_zpse29f5f29.jpg.html)

So got everything in and had to trim the face plate up a little more before it would fit right
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/ninjagage/IMG_2092_zps85580ecb.jpg (http://s8.photobucket.com/user/ninjagage/media/IMG_2092_zps85580ecb.jpg.html)

I know there are a lot of people on here that can do a lot better work but I think it turned out pretty good. I am beginning to like the 80prs more and more everyday and have it almost adjusted to my liking. My other HU sounded good but idk the 80prs just sounds so smooth. I am getting a little bit of engine noise but not sure why. I have made sure that my rcas and power cables are no where close to each other so I am going to have to find out the cause of it because it drives me CRAZY! At least I usually always have my music so cannot hear it then but just knowing it's there still bothers me lol. But let me know what you think
