all you need to do is remove the power supply or leave it in and disengage it from the rest of the system.
or you could use a inverter and keep the power supply but then your going from a 12 volt system to a 120 volt a/c system then back down to a 12 volt system....

Modding is perfect for car use because you will never have to put a disc in...

I second that. My modded Xbox has an 80gb HDD and has over 20 of my games on there and its nice to be able to just take your Xbox and controllers and leave the bag of games at home. I will probably end up modding this on even further to fit in my car but first I'd like to finish my stereo. :)

by modding, i think he means replacing hte chip or something so that it can read copied games and stuff.

I know a guy that did an xbox install in his car and modded it completely. Not sure what he did for everything (I know he has an Xenium chip, bunch of movies, games, emulated games, etc.) but I'm not sure about the technical stuff he's done to make it work in his car.

Edit: here's the thread he posted on here (http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29938)

Then go here. (http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30128)

And then finally here (http://www.cardomain.com/id/dolemitex) for pics of the install in his Xterra.

Very nice.

You can mod the older xbox's fine with software. I regularly spoke to the people in the group who released the software mod and it works just as well as a modchip. I also helped mod the channel and help people with any problems they may have had with the software. Which, means its fine for gaming unless you plan on using Xbox Live! as the newest dashboard closes up the software exploits. There are a ton of v1.0-v1.3-4 boxes with the same vulnerbility. However new boxes and updated dash's may need to have hardware exploits but I wouldn't know about newest stuff since that part of the scene has died down quite a bit and I haven't been back since my Xbox only sees and hour or two of play a week. My Xbox can read copied games if I want it to but I choose not to.
