I have two pioneer premier 12" shallow mount subs. I custom built a downfire box to fit in my 2007 jeep wrangler jk 4 door. (diminsions 32"L by 16"W by 18"H) They sound like they are possibly double hitting and muffled. I believe i may have to much air space but not sure. I would like to rebuild a box but not sure of the best size for premium sound. I usually keep the top off my jeep so its usually wide open in the back. I also push these two 12's with my JL audio 500/1 amp. Any sugestions on proper box size and type would be greatly appreciated. If there is any additional information needed i would be glad to give it.

Unless i'm crazy you're using a 4.5 CF box on subs that need 1-2 CF (for both)?

14Lx16Wx18H if you're using 1/2 inch MDF or 16Lx16Wx18H for 3/4 MDF

Yes, that box is WAY to big for shallow mount 12's.. Even if you had 4 of those 12's it would be to big.

Yea way to much air space. I bought these subs used and was given the wrong specs. I found the correct specs online after searching.

I would like to build one box for both subs to go in. WHAT SIZE BOX? And do i need to put a wall In between the two?One sub calls for .5 to 1.0 cubic foot. How do I decide on the best air space when they range it from .5 to 1.0.?Like I said earlier too it's going in a jeep that's mostly open if that matters.

no you don't need a wall inbetween them so make the box anywhere from 1 to 2 cubes

What about both speakers in one box

What about both speakers in one box

1 - 2 cubes is for both woofers in a single box
