View Full Version : Upgrade for 2013 Ford Fusion

Hi, I just purchased a 2013 Fusion Hybrid and of course I would like to upgrade the audio system. It sounds OK but like most stock audio systems, it could be better. The issue is with the head unit. I do not want to change it because it is an integral part of the cars interface system. The question is, what can I do as far as adding (or replacing existing) amps and possibly speakers, subwoofer etc. I don't know exactly what is installed in the car (it's stock). Does it already have amps, subwoofer etc.? I think the grill on the rear deck is covering a sub, but it is not too impressive. There are a 3 audio system options for this vehicle and mine is the AM/FM/CD/SYNC/SATELLITE RADIO. There's also the PREMIUM and the Sony.

I haven't done any car audio upgrades in quite some time since my previous car was a 1997 Camry that I drove for about 15 years. I upgraded it in the first 2 months of owning it and haven't touched it since. Does my Fusion head unit have pre outs or would an outboard amp have to be connected at speaker level? (or is there some other way?) I'm willing to spend around $300-$400 at this point. I could do it over time if I need to spend more on speakers and/or sub later. Or maybe $600 would be enough for a decent "all the above". My home audio system is a 9.5 on a scale of 10 and I'd like my car audio to be at least a 7.5 or 8. Any advice or info is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

there's a stock amp in the trunk, you'll have to do some manuevering to find it, buy a line out converter and tap into wiring to get your pre outs
