I have 2 15" kicker L7 subs in a ported box and was wondering if stuffing them in a bandpass box would make them louder?

need more information like what kind of power and vehicle.. More important what is your box like now, as far as tuning, size, and port area??

You cant just "stuff" some subs in a bandpass and get good results and therefore my guess is you may be thinking about getting prefab, if so definitely not a good idea

I don't know much about this stuff. I just want them to be as loud as possible. The box I'm using now looks scabby and I want to upgrade. I've also been told blow thru would be a good idea

What exactly is the ported box you have now? was it custom built for the subs? or was it purchased preassembled? do you have any specs on the box at all?

alright but what info do you have on the enclosure the subs are currently in? thats where i can start from to give you suggestions to get louder. A bandpass box wont necessarily make you louder if a more optimal ported box than the one your currently using could be built

Its 64" long x 30" high x 30" deep both subs are towards one side and a port on the far side its about 4" x 25"

have a pro build the bandpass for you, dont buy cookie cutter crap, it'll sound like **** more than loud. High Output Enclosures (http://www.caraudio.com/forums/high-output-enclosures/) pm this guy, he builds hella fking loud boxes. Just remember, cheap out on the box and you'll be outblasted by everyone else.

64 inches long !? seriously? if these are really your dimensions this box is MASSIVE. did you build it?

33 cubes gross WUTTT if your box is this big you should be worried about whether or not you fucked up your subs yet..

I got it built when I bought the subs. Its a few inches from the top of the seats, touches the seats and the back of the cab and sits on the floor. I'll post a picture when I get home

I think there alright I can't really crank them up they killed my alternator. I'm still working on getting them the power they need

yea you need some upgraded electrical to be able to run that amp for sure. A high output alternator, as well as some nice extra batteries are important as well as upgrading the 3 main current carrying conductors under your hood. (this is called the big three upgrade)

Ok say I get a torquey altenator and run dual batteries. Should I get capacitors and those dry cell batteries I think there called?

No capacitors. and you want to go for some deep cycle batteries. AGM are preferable they can be mounted however you wish

So how does an enormous box wreck subs?

I'll design you a good bandpass for those L7's. They work very well in 4th's.

When a box is way too large like that, the sub will reach it's mechanical limits with much less power.
