Hi guys,

I just purchased a CDT QES-1220 12" and looking for a sealed box. Here are the specs taken from CDT's site.

Thiele-Small Parameters
Free Air Resonance: 35.2 Hz
Voice Coil DC Resistance: 3.68 Ohms
Voice Coil Inductance @ 1 kHz: 3.54 mH
Mechanical Q (Qms): 6.06
Electrical Q (Qes): 0.56
Total Q (Qts): 0.513
Compliance Volume (Vas): 30.36 l; 1.07 ft3
Moving mass, Diaphragm: 206 Gr
Motor Force Factor: 17.54 Tm
Mounting depth
6.22” (158mm)
Outer diameter
12.28” (312mm)
Cutout diameter
11.0” (280mm)

Sealed Box Responses from top to bottom at 10Hz:
Top: Response corrected for typical cabin (medium sedan)
Bottom: Response in same volume taken without correction (2PI)
Response selected for medium sedan
Box volume = 0.50 cubic feet - add 0.12 cubic foot for driver inside
(Total Vol.=0.62)

There's a local shop that has pretty good sealed 12" boxes for $100 that are .75 in volume and wondering if this would suffice.

Thanks in advance!!!

Searching around on the net I found this (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7589_Sonic-Sub-Box-1H12-0.7-Gray.html#tabs), just wondering on peoples thoughts...

That box from sonic will do. $40 shipped is a great deal, if you're not wanting a custom fit box.

The box from Sonic will work, but I would give that beautiful sub a higher quality enclosure. I understand the value and convenience of ordering a prefab. Make sure you pre-drill the holes and listen for any air leaks. Even the smallest air leak will alter the performance.

Thanks Barry, I figured prefab would be a no no. The one thing I like about it is the design, the angled back is exactly what I want for my hatchback. Can someone here make me a high quality one?

You can make one yourself to perfectly fit your car. I would use the formulas from the12volt.com (http://www.the12volt.com). Just remember to account for the subwoofer displacement value when calculating the box size.

Do you already have the design?

I ordered a QES-1220 today for myself as well. Right now I'm planning to get a box from High Output Enclosures (http://www.caraudio.com/forums/high-output-enclosures/) made from birch. You might want to ask for the flush mount option. It looks so much nicer.

Thanks for the info. I just had got done PM'ing DC Creations on a quote. I'm curious to see what you end up doing...
