Is anybody using these speakers? I'm curious to know how they are. I can get them locally for quite cheap. They are in the same price range as the Alpine Type-S 6.5" components.

Well I went ahead and bought these. They seem alright. I replaced some 6.5" TMA components that I've had for 4 years. The hertz have a cleaner sound to them. Much more midbass too. I barely had any midbass with the TMA speakers.

The sales person kept trying to sell me the Hertz ESK1654 (which is a model up from the DSk165). To me the cheaper model sounded better than the more expensive. I know the DSK's have a higher sensitivity rating than the ESK's so maybe that's why.

They are both great speakers. On the same power the DSK will outperform the ESK. The ESK, HSK, and MLK are power hungry (even though all of their sensitivity ratings are high in general).

DSK are more of a budget/OEM replacement with better overall sound quality. They are GREAT for those looking for good sound at a great price.
