I'm running a2100 watt hifonics at two ohms. Pushing two 10" kicker cvx subs. My amp is only running at 1400 watts because my subs are dual 2 ohm subs. I'm debating on adding two more tens either in the ext cab of my 1997 s10 in a custom box or doing a blow through. My second choice is moving on to different subs. What do you guys think, help me out. Thanks in advance.

For the bass upgrade I'm looking at seven. Around that ball park. I do my own installs so I'm just looking for the equipment. I figure I'll save myself from the labor. I'm in the process of upgrading the front stage and electrical. I get thumbs up on the way it sounds now but it's not enough for me.

<s10>

Then again seven might only get me a decent sub huh?

What are you looking to end up with in the end? A pair of 10's, 12's, or 8's? Or one high quality single sub? Once you decide what you want to end up with I'm sure you will find more than enough help around here to point you in the right direction :D I guess it really depends on how much space you are working with and how much cu ft. you will end up with in the end - That alone will play a big part in what subs you should look into...

04-11-2013, 02:15 AM
You should be able to get 4 solid used subs and a good solid used amp. Check out sundown sa-10's for used, If you want new I would highly suggest looking at audio technix strato 10's 119.00 new. You could do 4 strato 10's and a good 2-3k amp and beat the hell out of your truck for well under 1k...

I'm up for a box in the cab or a blow through. I can use all of the cab space behind the seats. Or the section in front of wheel tubs in the bed. Either or. I think I'd like to end up with two good 12"'s. Also, would my 2100 work for a few months? Or is hifonics junk all together?

<s10>

Just no wall. Thought id add that in.

Your amp would probably last you a while if you take care of it and don't try and push it past it's limits.

I'd go with a blowthrough

I did a blow thru in a ranger that was 2 12's. Impressive set up with a door open, sealed up it ******. Your s10 is probably the same way...

<s10>

What type of subs should I go with for now with the amp i have at the moment?
Mlstrass, it's like that now until i roll my windows down. With the windows up it sounds like crap.

You can get 2 Sundown SA-12 D4's or some DC level 2 D4's and run them @ 1 ohm & It should sound pretty descent running on your current amp... The Sundowns need considerably more space than the level 2's = roughly 2.0 cu ft. per sub for the SA's or 1.25 cu ft. per sub for the level 2's

It's looking like there is gonna be some cvx's for sale. Sundown seems to be a popular choice. Should i do two 12's or four 10's in the sa d4 line?

My S10 used to be the same way. Really many pickup trucks gain as much as 4db with a window down.

Do 2 15's man.. stay away from tens... thats just my opinion. More cone, More air!! if you want it louder you need more air to be pushed.

If you are doing a blow through don't waste it with 10's… At the least I would do 4 12's, 2-4 15's in a 4th order blow through would be sick! I plan on doing 4 15's in a 4th order sometime in the future. If you are doing the blow through make it worth it and go big!!!

<s10>

I was thinking15's too. If i go tens or twelve's, it's gonna have to stay inside. I think my last question would be, the sa15d4 requires a 3.5 cu. ported box and 1800 woofers carries some ported 4.5 cu. boxes. Should i just build a box? The price on two boxes came out to a little under 400.
Second question is, will my hifonics 2100 push these two subs at 1 ohm for a few months?

Build your own enclosure, it will be cheaper and you will know that it is done right & sized correctly. The enclosure is the most important part of a good sub setup... I don't see why your amp wouldn't push those @ 1 ohm for awhile (Everyone I know with a hifonics has em full tilt @ 1 ohm) Just do it right with good wiring and make sure the amp is able to breath so it doesn't overheat on you and you should be fine until you upgrade :D

too bad you didnt wanna drive to monterey ,i have a box already built for 2 12's that is a proven 152.8 db box from my old s10.i can tell you and sell you everything you'll need to know about your truck to get loud.mine was the loudest s10 no wall on the west coast for 4 years running before i totaled it .i know where to run the wires ,how to install 2 alts with no bracket ,how to get a group 31 battery under the hood , and tuning frequencies for your truck to get it loud.

mylows10
04-13-2013, 10:48 AM
no problem .like i said i still have my old box thats a inside below the window line for 2 12's if you wanna go that way .also if you want to do a blow thru ,the 15's is the biggest sub that will fit there unless you use a camper shell

<s10>
04-14-2013, 12:56 AM
If I wanted to get an alternator or two, batteries, wiring, a box, amps and the subs to be the loudest around, what do you think I'd be spending?

mylows10
04-14-2013, 01:01 AM
i had 2 alts ,a 200 amp and 175 amp adjustable voltage they were 550 alone ,then i had 200 ft of wire at 175 per roll ,my box that has alot of time in it prolly 3-400 in that alone without the ports.then subs amps and batts.i can arrange for you to get some deks batts pretty cheap in ontario .i had 5k in my system easy .but i can be done for less ,if you know what to do and what to get

<s10>
04-14-2013, 01:19 AM
That was a thought I had. I don't know if i'd be ok throwing a big chunk of money at my system and risk blending in. Second question, can it be made to be reliable for a daily driver?

mylows10
04-14-2013, 01:22 AM
yes it can ,mine was and i was hitting a 152.8 db on a burp and 148.7 on music

<s10>
04-14-2013, 01:53 AM
I'd like to make a build list of what it takes so I can get funds rolling towards something like that because I feel loud can be done with effort but loudest will take some work.

mylows10
04-14-2013, 01:57 AM
yea i here ya ,just get a bit at a time ,i can save you some money in some areas of the build ,but i can take care of all the equipment needed ,and i do mean all of it

<s10>
04-14-2013, 02:03 AM
I think I'll get the front stage and deck done. Then start preparing for the bass

mylows10
04-14-2013, 02:05 AM
good start , do a dvd deck ,i did a double din in mine ,still have it to

<s10>
04-14-2013, 01:08 PM
I'm debating a double din versus adding my tablet to the dash, hiding the ac controls behind that and fg'ing a mount for a deck down into my blazer console. The previous owner installed bucket seats and the console out of a blazer. There is a whole where the shifter used to be that I need to cover. Decisions, decisions..

mylows10
04-14-2013, 01:17 PM
good start then , i also sell decks to if you need one
