Someone told me that you get more spl if you have 2 subs in a ported box sharing the airspace is this true?

If it has more air yes but bigger doesn't always mean louder. Prefer single chambers as you can make then exactly to there specs and one sub isn't farther from the port. Box making is a science, one sub 1" away from the port will sound very very slightly diffrent than a sub 20" away from port. Something that may not even be audible but effects it. 2 Subs sharing need a bigger port because of more air movement and double the sound waves. Double 07, Buck or Rabbit can explain this more I am far from any expert so don't quote me but his is just what I have learned.

General rule is shared chamber will be louder, separate chamber will sound better. Keep in mind it is a very general rule and there are a lot of other factors that will affect both spl and sq other than shared or common chamber.

I would double the port size if I run them in a single chambered box.
